I Lived In The Slums Of Mumbai For 5 Days And This Experience Opened My Eyes

May be you missed the caption, Its a Slum. The biggest slum in the world. I google'd it "Dharavi", and was blown by sheer size and other things related to it. In India trash is a serious problem I guess, with almost non-existent recycling facilities all the garbage is dumped like this. You can imagine living in a place where for 1000 people they have only 1 toilet(as per above article). But author is correct in pointing out in one thing, no matter where you go, no matter how poor people are, they are same, same needs, same ambitions!

I was traveling for years prior to this near-death experience and even though I really did appreciate my life, when you get so close to death, you just start appreciating everything a lot more. So we don't 'need' that experience per se, but it definitely puts things into perspective - which is really useful :)

Yes indeed! It has a very dark past, though. But visiting it is very interesting as you get to learn so much about the history of Iraq and especially Iraqi Kurdistan.

There are loads of solo female travelers in Iraqi Kurdistan and they don't need to cover their hair. I met quite a few myself, but you can also check out people like "Eva zu Beck" on YouTube :)

Good for you! I feel the exact same day about life as you ~ always have! I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2001 ~ the good thing about that was friends actually started doing their bucket lists with me! Funny thing is we are all dying, it is the only guarantee we have in life. Life is so amazing...I could live a thousand lifetimes and still never do everything I would like, but I am working on it... ;-)

Same here... Last year I was hit by a car and ended up im-mobile for half a year... a big reset both physicaly and mentaly as I re-evaluated all my aims and life goals... after I re-learned how to walk again I am enjoying every step I make more than ever... every step and every day...

In 2015, my friends mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Due to the low chance of survival, she is now traveling the world and beating the odds! She was expected to die last month as it progressed. But she still lives on. My friend is in Peru with her, and it's so beautiful!
