30 Women Who Dared To Get Their Hair Cut Short And Got Awesome Results Thanks To This Hairstylist (New Pics)
If you are looking for a change after the interesting year that was 2021, why not use this time wisely to plan your next short haircut? Over the past decade or so, short hairstyles have stunned the world of media, and these days more and more women prove that gone are the days when women were expected to keep long, luscious hair just to avoid stereotypes.
In the last few years, women, regardless of their age, have been ditching their long hairstyles in exchange for a fresh short haircut. And gorgeous female celebrities such as Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman, and even Tyra Banks have only added to the trend with their short new 'dos, as they tend to make powerful statements, showing that you don’t need long hair to feel feminine and beautiful.
Russian hairstylist Kristina Katsabina helps her clients feel empowered and confident as she proves that one can still look beautiful regardless of their hair length.
Kristina’s work has been previously featured on Bored Panda, and if you’d like to see more of it, you can click here, and here.

In an older interview with Bored Panda, Kristina told us a little bit about the whole trend behind the short haircuts and gave us insights on her clients.
"A lot of women in their 30s are either working in a field they do not like or they have lost all of their inspiration to keep moving forward. It happened to me too; at some point, I lost all of my motivation to keep moving forward and deepen my knowledge when it came to my profession at the time. Before becoming a full-time hairstylist, I was teaching Spanish and also worked as a translator and choreographer."
She looks really beautiful. I think that haircut really compliments her cheekbones
Kristina also had an influx of clients who wanted a "Bixie" haircut. "Bixie" is a short haircut that is often described as a hybrid between the bob, mullet, and a pixie. This exact haircut is a new trend that brings together a classy elegant look and pairs it with an effortless style, combining the best lived-in looks with timeless sophistication, and looks good on any woman regardless of her age.
For the new year of 2022, a lot of women are looking into short haircut trends and inspiration for the following year. Chopping off your hair is never easy as for many it holds sentimental value or even touches upon topics such as religious beliefs. However, maybe haircut trends such as the pixie cut, short bob, or even Chanel cut can inspire one to make changes in life. After all, all big changes start with one's hair!
Omigosh, her eyes were already stunning, but now they are staggeringly noticeable!
Given the overall trends for this year, tell us, Pandas, which transformation was your favorite and why? We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comments! As always, please remember to be respectful and mindful when expressing your thoughts, and show the amazing hairstylist Kristina some support on her Instagram page!
I'm surprised no one mentioned her heterochromia - her eye is so cool looking!
Yes to the cut and a double yes to letting the grey hair shine through!
This reminds me of a swimsuit ad I saw. In each of the before and after shots of the various models in various swimsuits, the model wearing the manufacturer's swimsuit was smiling, and not smiling in the other.
Crystal blue eyes look great with both, but I still love more length.
Oh, yeah, the hairstyle really enlivens her face. She doesn't look droopy anymore.
It's good to cut away the overprocessing damage. The hair looks much healthier now.
...and as always, the glasses disappear and with them the reason for the glasses.
I find this haircut quite terrible. The first pic shows a beautiful, fresh, young woman with gorgeous eyes. The new haircut on the other pictures adds at least 10 years...
I will not soon forget the day I had this much hair cut off. When I walked out of the salon, I looked both ways before crossing the street. I turned my head with the same amount of force that I always had. Except this time I wasn't swinging a pony tail over my shoulder. *crAck* That felt really good! So I tossed my phantom hair over my other shoulder... *crAck*... again. My neck had not felt that good in a long time.
Wow, she looks so much better, very pretty now ! And her face looks thinner with shorter hair, and her eyes stand out much more.
She looks cute in both, but a little more polished with the short hair.
Down vote me if you must, but the longer hair pics look better on most of these people. 😕
These are just two different hair cuts and they look horrible on 80% of the clients
I really wanted to like these cuts because I've thought of cutting my hair short and thought these pics might help me make the change. I like the look of the longer styles more, but It doesn't matter what I think. If they like it, good for them.
Not entirely sure why women have to "dare" to cut their hair off. Plenty of women have short hair by choice. It's not exactly daring. Some of these new styles are lovely, and some look rank.
What? No cute faux hawks or punky undercuts? Also, there are a lot of nasty, judgemental people on this thread. Stop policing women's bodies. If they want their hair cut short, what's that to you?
Short hair is very becoming for some women, for others not so much, and for some it doesn't matter either way. My SO went from long straight hair when we met, to permed hair after some years, to much shorter hair after many more years, back to longer straight hair now because she got tired of having to deal with maintaining a short hair cut. Personally, I prefer the short hair cut, but I've always told her it's what matters to her. Did finally manage to convince her to stop coloring her hair... something she's almost always done. Her natural color is a very, very dark brown, but she colored it mostly various shades of brown, and blond for a while. Now it's white... and beautiful.
I've been wanting to cut my hair short like this and now I'm convinced
I appreciate that the angle and lighting didn’t change for the After, as well as no additional makeup or filters. You can see what the haircut itself does
I am a huge fan of short hair. My hair was past my waist until I was 23 and then I made the drastic change and cut it to about 4 inches all over and donated it to Locks Of Love. I have had various pixie cuts since.
Some short haircuts which can look very androgynous, even sexless, on some women emphasize on other women their natural, feminine faces, especially if they're young. (See for instance, Courtney C*x in Bruce Springsteen's video, mid-80s Pat Benetar, Natalie Portman, Emma Watson). But in most of these cases unless they were going for androgynous, they just don't work well. That's not saying that they aren't pretty, just that the hairdo isn't doing them any favors. In several, I would think simply tying the hair back would be simpler than the styling work it'll take to make the hair "fall" just right, the way the stylist worked it.
I miss my super short hair. It grew out over various Covid lockdowns and is still fairly short (a neat bob) but I really loved the much shorter spikey pixie cut I had before. As a few have mentioned here - you need regular cuts (although I could get a cheap barbers cut rather than paying three times the amount for a ladies hairdresser). As for those commenting on the gender implications of shorter hair "it looks more manly" seems a common theme. It only looks "Manly" if you subscribe to the idea that genders should be clearly defined and women must have long hair, men short
Sorry to say but I don't see any improvement. Most of them looked way better before.
All of the people being negative in these comments isn't what this post is for, this post was to highlight the changes they got thanks to this stylist. It doesn't matter if the long hair had been styled and washed, most women in general don't go and get their hair salon-styled daily and the before pics were close to what they'd looked like daily. The post just points out that these women got their hair cut short and the only place they asked for your opinion is when they asked you to be respectful and mindful. Saying the cuts look awful is not what most would consider mindful or respectful, considering the time the stylist spent making these women feel better about themselves.
Maybe a better hairstylist? Beautiful faces, but I didn't feel like the styles worked for them.
You guys are so mean- these people feel a lot more confident (most likely) and they just seem happier in the after photos. I for one think they look great if they feel great.
I'll be 61 this year and there is no way in hell I'm cutting my long hair for a short lady hairdo. My mother who is 95 keeps asking me why?, all the ladies do it. Obv I'm not a lady. I'm an older woman w/long hair. Rockin' it too!
What is up with everyone on here?! These women look great with short hair.
Just goes to prove how often long hair weighs you down and makes you look older
My curly hair always look great when the salon does it! Also, I like short hair but you have to get it cut so often. I don’t want to spend the time or the money.
The key is confidence. If these ladies feel more confident with short hair leave them alone
Please give the price that the upkeep of these styles will cost. $100 every 4-6 weeks is a real hardship for most people.
When I was 18, I decided to cut my hair and donate it. At the time, it was almost to my waist. I cut it "boy short" on the sides and back, slightly longer on top.I loved it but my dad didn't talk to me for days! LOL! Since my hair has never really recovered from chemo, I'm thinking about doing it again.
I think the shorter cuts make most of these women look younger & more vibrant. Granted, grown out roots & just crappy hair care make the before pictures even worse, but on the whole I like the shorter cuts better.
Many of the cuts feature fringes or other hair that falls over their eyes. The models will be spending a lot of time trying to see without the pain of hair in their eyes. Not for me, no matter how good they look.
This is just my personal opinion but neither of these ladies look better in the 'after' photo.
So, in conclusion, don't do it. Thank you girls for doing the study :D
Oh dear. Most of these reminded me of the styles from the early 1990's. (Yes, I'm old). :-)
The short cuts are great, but a lot of work and expensive upkeep... only a couple of these look "wash and wear" and even they require very regular trips to the salon for trims. I have long hair that I used to donate regularly to Locks of Love (although they aren't currently taking donations) so I will need to chop off a lot of it, but I think I am too fat to rock a pixie, and I definitely don't want high maintenance hair. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like there was some work done on these photos... the eyes. Even the brown eyes look more orange than any brown eyed people I know. It could be that everyone that comes into this particular salon has really outstanding eye color, but when I think about how many of my friends have eyes like this, I can think of two out of about 30.
Most of these styles look very dated and if I'm being honest, not very flattering. There were 3 or 4 that I thought really suited the women
They basically used 4 different hair cuts for all these woman. What happened to the time when short hair styles were cut to your face, hair type & thickness/thinning. There was no styling here just a push for short with the few styles they feel are popular. No artistry and more no variety. Many of the women look older or not as flattering as before their cut because the just got a hair cut, not an individual style for the client.
Although the hair does look better, such short styles make many of them look very manly.
Down vote me if you must, but the longer hair pics look better on most of these people. 😕
