I agree that noone has to explain themselves to anyone upon entering a building, but apartment thefts do happen and we all should remain cautios. If someone acts suspicious (of course not the case here - he was clear he lived there, had keys etc) contact authorities. Don't ever take matters in your own hands, because if that person happens to be a burglair, you might end up in a very bad place.

Do you think she seemed drunk though? Not an excuse obviously but I felt her words were slurred and her eyes were unfocused. I started watching this with an open mind. Some of these video titles are exaggerated. This one made me so angry though. When he got passed her and she said "Are you hitting me?" my blood boiled. Fair play to him though. He kept his cool when I probably wouldn't have.

She definitely lied to the police to get them there, and that IS agains the law. This guy is being way too nice saying he won’t take any action against her. Its great he forgives her, but there needs to be consequences for this type of stuff or it continues. Yes she lost her job, but the way she and others like her are using and lying to the police to harass people needs to be stopped.

I don't know if I think that is the worst part - she probably lied to get the police to come out. Hard to know without them saying as she's not going to admit it. Her belief that he doesn't have a right to be in that building is the worst thing for me.

Umm, that lady is married to an African American man herself. That and the fact that she said nothing to even indicate racist intents would seem proof that her motives where something else. According to interviews she has later given the occupants of the condo are instructed not to let anyone without the key in.

I'm in the UK and here flats/apartments are legally required to have fire doors which, in theory, are harder to break in. Plus, communal doors often have trades or services buttons on the intercom that unlocks the door directly to allow deliveries or tradespeople in during day time hours. So we can't trust the communal door to be the most secure point.

Flimsy wooden one-lock doors would make me very nervous! Who is to say that everyone who lives IN the building is harmless?? Did it worry you? Hope you are living somewhere with lovely strong doors now.

I get that. I was at my in laws building, which has about 800 apartments. I talking about a really large flat. You cant know everyone. I wanted to get in and someone came out. He actually held the door open for me. I declined and used the intercom instead. My in laws were quite upset that someone tried to let me in without knowing what my business was there. You cant rely on people that they dont let people in. But when he had the key.......... that was straight up dumb of this woman

My thoughts as well, I didn't see anything overtly racist, but these situations are always a bit tricky because sometimes the situation only seems to be labeled as "racist" when a white person is negatively interacting with a black person, which in itself is not racism. If she was motivated by his race to question and follow him, I'd still say its still not "racism" so much as its acting on stereotypes and prejudices because she would be assuming a black person doesn't have the means to live in a more up-scale apartment building. These situations are rarely clear-cut unless the person is clearly expressing racist epithets. Its important to take all perspectives into consideration when judging a situation.
