Everyone I know is for guns being legal and not one of them thinks mental illness is demons or laziness. My mother and grandmother suffer from severe depression. And they are law-abiding citizens who have every right to protect themselves. If it was super easy to tell who would end up being a mass shooter then obviously we just wouldn't sell them the gun in the first place, but there's a first time every criminal commits a crime.

Maybe you should get out more? Nearly everyone I know would rather have the shootings stop than have guns. If there's a fire, you deprive it of fuel, not make sure fuel is everywhere.

And who doesn't. One of those situations is clearly better for the criminal. An armed society is a safe society, if the people know how to use their weapons. Everyone should be taught firearm safety IN THE CLASSROOM to prevent mass shootings, and accidental injury. For most children this would include classes on recognizing a firearm, seeing if safety is on or off, being taught trigger discipline, and ultimately just if you see a weapon, it is not a toy. For young adults 16+, they should be getting training on proper use of different kinds of firearms, and again learning it's not a toy and trigger discipline, etc.

Maybe you should get out more? Nearly everyone I know would rather have armed citizens that can stop the shootings rather than stripping constitutional rights. If you take guns away from citizens, then the only people who have them are criminals and police, and since police are clearly inept at protecting citizens (quoting Uvalde here) the citizens need to protect themselves. Imagine a situation in a bank. Guns are outlawed, but you're a criminal who has a weapon. This bank doesn't have armed guards and the nearest police station is 10 minutes away. You walk in, steal the money, without any threat to yourself, and leave a few thousand $$ richer. Now imagine the same scenario, but in a society where every person over the age of 16 is incouraged to own a firearm, and is trained to use one. Now you walk into the bank, and you don't have the same confidence. It's likely the tellers are trained to use their weapons, and if there are other customers you don't know who has a weapon.

But the fuel to the fire isn't the weapons themselves. A gun ( rifle, pistol, shotgun) yes is dangerous, but it is a tool for people to defend themselves, hunt for food, ect. When in the wrong hands, yes, it becomes something else. But in saying that, even a shoe can be turned into a weapon. So, do remove everything from life, simply because it can be used to kill?

The healthcare part is because there are symptoms of untreated mental health issues in most of the people who become shooters far before they ever actual do anything (not all) And I didn't say all people who want guns believe that mental health is "demons" or "laziness" at all. Was literally just talking about the ones who try and call gun reform/laws "liberals/dems gonna come and take all your guns" which isn't everyone who wants guns.

Not sure they will catch the sarcasm at the end. According to their lil echochambers USA is the best and those other countries are dictatorships or something. They really need to get out more. I was in Australia for a year and it's wonderful there. Funny how i felt safer in a country with a lot of the most deadly creatures on earth than i do in the USA where everyone has the "freedom" to get shot at any time...
