What joins wine lovers and artists? Wine, of course! Wine art is not about the art of drinking, but rather making one of the most unpredictable and unique art forms there is.

These beautiful paintings are different and intriguing not only because of a wide variety of depicted motives that go all through art history but also because fermentation and oxidation continue the amazing artwork which is seen through a slight color transition of the wine stains from red and purple towards sepia hues, having limited but beautiful color range no other pigment could imitate. It is also known as the “aging” process.

Only the finest sorts of wine were used as art mediums in the creation of each one of these cool paintings, added in layered brush strokes similar to watercolors. The origin of this painting technique is estimated to be during the Renaissance art style period.

These are just extraordinary. These look so amazingly effortless - something I struggle with in my own work. These are perfection. Your Marilyn is breathtaking. Thank you for sharing.

What paper do you use, and do you preserve it any special way?

Hi Minda, I use good quality watercolour paper 300 Ib at least. I do preserve it with spray fixatives, but a regular hairspray fixative comes in handy too!

Exquisite work. The aging itself fascinates me- it is living art.

Do yourself a favour and paint with watercolor. You have the same effect and can make the paintings last longer.
