Over the last couple of days, we’ve been watching in horror dangerous wildfires that firefighters have not been able to control so far, that are rapidly spreading and getting closer to our area.

We’re located only 30 kms away from the main affected areas and we remain on high alert as blaze keeps spreading across the island forcing thousands to evacuate their homes.

We’re extremely concerned about the wellbeing of our rescues in the eventual case of evacuation😿and especially concerned about Cheeky, Frankie, and their mom Luna (who live in a secluded area 10 kms away from us), and all the other feral cats we feed outside the Sanctuary, as they are in an even more vulnerable position if wildfires keep spreading closer to our area.

We’ve been taking extra good care of everyone inside and outside the Sanctuary, during the alarmingly hot (+40ºC) heatwave we are experiencing due to the higher temperatures the wildfires are causing, by providing wet food, cat milk and fresh water on a daily basis.
