Well, some lessons can only be learned the hard way. One of my cousins once hit the fire alarm at an indoor water park, out of sheer curiosity. (He apologized later.)
"I wouldn't let her eat dog food"
Eh, just give her a small taste. She'll change her mind. (My sister and I never ate the wet food, but we both had to try our cat's kibble once).
As a grown a$$ woman/mother, I completely understand and feel her horror. The Halloween sprinkles are UGLY and therefore will NOT taste the same as the fun colorful sprinkles. You want the rainbow sprinkle donut, there is no rainbow sprinkle donut, so you cannot eat a donut! I no longer cry externally, only internally as I leave without a donut.... Smh fml I'm an overgrown toddler...

"Because we left Target"
I think the human mind blocks out these traumatic experiences that adults must suffer thru from their offspring. I know my kids were screaming brats but I cannot remember a single instance now. But I do often wonder how humanity survived to build our civilization. You know 10,000 years ago some kid was crying because it's parents wouldn't let it eat a rock. But back then they could throw the kid off a cliff. The loud one probably attracted predators. This makes me glad my children are grown and I have no grandchildren. Just grandcats and grandrats.
What do you mean you would not let her sleep with her current favorite toy?!?!?!?!?!
"I won't give him candy for breakfast"
Why not? I went to an apple orchard when I was 5 and ate the whole apple, core and all. It’s not necessarily bad for you
Can we please skip the kid pics next time? Children don't belong online and especially not in a way that makes fun of them or shows them crying.
We already know that they’re crying, we don’t need to see pics

Honestly, many of these are just "maybe let your child have that bad experience so they can learn that it's a bad experience and not want to do it anymore." There's a big difference between "don't let your kid put that fork in a socket" and "don't let your kid try to eat the dog food." I can guarantee you they'll only try eating dog food once, and it won't hurt them. If they're gonna cry either way, they might as well be learning a lesson. Too many parents try to teach by talking instead of by letting them learn. That's just not life, and it's too exhausting to constantly be straining to keep them from all bad experiences ever.
I let my child eat dog food when he was little. He loved it! No harm no foul. He's fine.
