One study authored by an Oxford anthropology researcher found that any and all acts of kindness, whether towards your loved ones or your community, can make not only the recipient happier, but also the giver. Hundreds of study participants all over the world, after a week of consciously striving to behave kindly, reported feeling happier than the control group (which is not to say that the people in the control group were all unkind, but apparently changing your outlook can make all the difference.)

Kids don't see skin color and they don't see it as something other until their parents or the world teaches them and that's really sad. I remember this wonderful video where they interviewed kids of different ethnicities asking what was different between them but the kids never mentioned skin colour and instead said things like "he's good at math but I'm good at sports"

Ron, a homeless man from Salt Lake City, has turned his life around by saving an abandoned puppy. His only intention was to make sure that the puppy doesn't end up alone in the streets, and by a lucky chance, this story went viral. Not to mention that the puppy got a new home with a loving family, Ron's selflessness was awarded by the people of Salt Lake City who started a fundraiser to help him get back to his feet. No one in the shop gave it any mind. Then our phone rang. It’s was the man outside looking for a way to come in. This is were I’m proud to say. Instead of telling him we couldn’t do it because we are not handicapped accessible. Our barber Victor Burgos went outside with his tools and cut his hair on the sidewalk. I’m proud to know that even when I’m not around our staff will go out of their way just to make someone happy! He did not have to do this. Vic is one of our busiest barbers and is always busy. So Vic thank you for being that guy and not only always proving what type of person you are but also being a CLASS ACT and bring class to our barber shop.

This happened to me back in 88 in communist Romania. I was 6 at the time, my parents were both working and my grandpa had to pick me up from school but for some reason that day he forgot. A teacher found me waiting in front of the school, but, because she couldn't leave school yet, she had a couple of 8th graders from the Pioneer Organization (basically the communist version of the Scouts) take me home on the other side of the city.

Appreciating things for what they are instead of complaining about fully separate articles would be more positive and logical. Like who cares. That's all-right Iggy. Some of the photographs dealt with some very heavy subjects (homelessness, terminal illness, death, child illness, mental health, etc.) that can bring up a lot of very hard emotions for some people. I really loved this thread, but do admit that I had to skip over some of the photos. I did really love some of the animal and family related ones!

I would like to add one thing to the list. In the Netherlands you can get an one time pay out from the government if you are a victim of violet crimes, rape or if you are relative from someone who died because of murder. It is pretty high, it can be from €1000 to €30.000. Just to give you some recognition of what happend. The only thing is that you have serious problems like ptss thanks to it. But still, I think it pretty nice of the government.

Reading these articles makes me wish I was a better person..I mean I'm not exactly c**p either..but still..I'd love to rescue animals, or pay for someone's coffee or hand out food to the homeless..just some way of making the world a much better place, one kind act at a time.

It's never too late to start! If you have money, donate to animal shelters or homeless shelters. If you don't have money, there still always little things you can do to help someone or improve their day. I have an elderly neighbour and I regularly shovel the snow in front of his door because I know he's unable to do it himself

This post began, some time before the virus, and our lives, being drastically changed, that has been enough to deal with, however, a white police officer, took the life, of an innocent , black man in handcuffs, George Floyd, lost his life, now with violent,burning, looting, etc; I never imagined, to see this in my life, on the news !!!

These are such beautiful stories. I love the things on BP generally, but I was actually moved to (happy) tears by the time I read about the sweet service dog bringing his mummy two potatoes when she was crying. There is love in the world, and it’s nice to be reminded of it.
