My 70-Year-Old Father-In-Law Started Painting A Couple Of Years Ago. He Likes To Try Different Styles And Keeps Them All
This makes me proud and happy for this man like it made me when like twenty years ago my then 80 year old grandma leaned to use a computer and write emails (with zero knowledge before). I hope I will be able to try and learn new stuff when older or at least will still learn to play new boardgames or so

This Lovely Gentleman Came In Today To Learn How To Curl His Wife’s Hair
His wife is unable to curl her own hair and often burns herself, so he stepped up to the plate and learned how to curl her hair. We had the pleasure of teaching him! We taught him how to do volume curls on short hair, how to protect her skin from being burned and we even taught him to put on her mascara.
This reminds me of another post I saw here awhile back. A black woman was approached by a white woman in the hair aisle, and wanted to ask a "non-offensive" question. The black woman, who was the OP, wrote how non-offensive questions always are, but she decided to be polite. Turned out the white woman (and her husband) had adopted a black girl, and they had no idea how to take care of the child's hair. So the black lady gave the white lady a beginner's course in the care and styling of black hair.
I've never wanted to hit the like button more times than right now.
I Brought One Of My Baby Bunnies To Meet My Great-Grandmother
She looks a bit like my great grandma. She lives to be almost 100 years old. She taught me how to sew. I miss her. Even the same hair. Apparently redheads will sometimes have their hair go white and then it'll go back to being red
It's only their first time meeting, but something tells that it's not going to be the last.

He Is 94. She Is 87. Their Love Story Has Been Continuous For 68 Years. My Parents
My parents are 88 this year. If they both make it to 10th November, they will have been married 68 years too. Edit: they made it
You are so lucky to have them both in your life for so long 💖
Load More Replies...My parents were married for 67 years. They met when they were 15 and got married right after high school. Last February my dad passed away. After that, my mom's health deteriorated rapidly and she passed six weeks later. They just couldn't be apart. I miss them terribly every day, but I like the thought that maybe they're together in another realm.
They would be my dad and his wife. He's been with health issues the last 3 years, including 3 months in ICU. He's fine now, stronger. She's been diagnosed with breast cancer 2 days ago and he's been his rock. He's 79 and she 72, together for 40 years, married 8 years ago and are a perfect fit.

My oldest student was in her 80s, married at 14 had 17 kids countless grand kids and great great grandkids. She was from Pakistan. She didn't have an education in her country and came to Europe and did so well. I am so proud to know her.

My Dad With The Bag Of Bone Marrow Donated By A 38-Year-Old Stranger In Germany To Save His Life
Oh damn, donating that stuff is painful as hell but invaluable. I recommend everybody put themselves on the marrow donor registry; free & easy to get the genetic profile (oral swab). It's hard enough to find a match in the usual databases, so this helps a ton. BeTheMatch.org (recently officially changed their org name but that still works for now).
Is it stil painful? I thought there was a new method to donate that stuff
Load More Replies...The man that donated the bone marrow is a hero. The procedure is painful and can leave the donor weak for days or weeks. Because of this only 10% of the population donates bone marrow. I hope this sweet man recovers from whatever ails him.
Have you done it? I heard it wasn't so bad anymore. But that you can still get really sick if you're not careful before and after.

My Father-In-Law Was Forced Into Early Retirement. Turns Out He's Pretty Good At Art
Back story: up until 9 months ago, he was working at a psychiatric hospital looking after sick people. A patient pushed him and he ended up grabbing him and falling to the ground with him, but the patient landed on top of him and he ended up breaking his back in multiple places. He had to be out of action for 6 months, that's when he had no choice but to retire early.
He fell into depression and felt like he had lost all hope. Recently, he decided to occupy his mind with something, so he started painting. To our surprise, it turns out he's pretty good, well we certainly think he is!
Getting injured to the point of needing workman's comp is not fun. I know someone who spent 18 months in terrible pain and losing the ability to walk before finally getting surgery - after being released by the company. They wasted the first 6 months on trying just physical therapy

For At Least 13 Years, Rain Or Shine This Little Old Man Spends Every Morning Walking Around Our Tiny Town Picking Up Trash
My grandad did that every day until he went into a nursing home. It kept him fit and he could take the cans to be donated to a charity. Then when he was in the home, he still did two laps around it for as long as he was able.

I live in Korea, and I gifted my grandfather a sim racing setup this week, hoping to introduce him to the joy of driving.
Since my grandmother passed away last November, he's been quite depressed, and I thought it'd be great if he could find a hobby to focus on and enjoy. He often expressed a desire to drive somewhere, but given his age, actual driving is out of the question - not only for his safety but also for the safety of others on the road.
I wish I could be there to help him more since I am his grandson, but I live in a different region due to my business. Fortunately, my mother lives just two minutes away from him and visits daily to prepare meals, so she can assist him with the game. Since actual driving is too dangerous, I hope this virtual driving game can satisfactorily fulfill his desire to drive.
Presumably he will be able to drive cars that he couldn't in real life, so even better

That is one of the things that I miss about being a cake decorator is the times I got to work with elderly customers. Some of my co-workers didn't have the most patience when it came to our senior customers but I actually preferred them over people my own age or kids. I think since there was a gap between my Mom's generation and mine that is why I'm more comfortable and prefer older people then ones who are my own age.
I love older people too. I used to teach in adult education and my favorite students were always the older ones. Great minds and stories.

I’m tired of seeing ageism on Bored Panda. Anyone can be wholesome at any age. They can also be very unwholesome: look at Trump, as one example. You generalize about Boomers, who are either cute or awful, Millennials, Gen X, etc. We are all very different. You wouldn’t stoop to characterizing different races as having certain traits. It’s an easy way to grab readers, but as a journalist I have to say that this is biased and ignorant. Grow up.
