Your own car, your friends, your families, rentals....any. What cars you've driven in your life have given you the best driving experiences and which ones the worst? And if possible: why?

Best:

BMW 3-series Diesel: It's a firm, sporty ride. Very sophisticated and you're in full control even under bad weather conditions. Always power, always torque.

Volvo XC60: Has all the extras, spacious. A smooth ride. Feels extremely safe and controlled. The regular gas version was nice, but the Hybrid with 400hp was possibly the best car I've driven yet.

Jaguar E-Pace: Nice and sporty, luxurious inside. And it's a really pretty car.

Honorary mention - my old '79 Firebird: Thirstier than Dean Martin in his best days. Setup is too soft, the steering as well. Looked faster and more powerful than it actually was. But it looked great and it sounded great. And I just felt like 10-feet tall behind this wheel. From a drivers perspective surely far from the best car. But it just was a great feeling and gave me a fizz like no other car.

Worst:

Chevrolet Equinox: A really basic, bland SUV (nothing sporty about it - and don't dare to go off-road with that). Feels cheap inside, all plastic. No power. Setup horribly soft. It's a car for people who don't care about cars. It's just so standard, so generic. No heart and soul.

Worst car I ever drove was a Dodge Caliber. The dashboard was about 3 feet long and at certain angles in relation to the sun, the dash would reflect in the windsheild and I wouldnt be able to see anything. There was also something about the shape of that car that just attracted dirt to the back hatch door and bumper, tail lights. The back of the car. Always dirtier than the rest.

The best car? Thats really a matter of opinion. Not many people would have liked my old Ford Ranger, but that thing was my jam! I loved that truck.

True, it is a matter of opinion. Like mine - the Trans Am I used to have - not the best from a drivers and technical point. But it was just perfect to me. Surely like your old Ranger.

My last car was a 2004 Toyota. The window was cracked because of a freak hail storm and taped. The upholstery in the car was stapled because it was coming off. For a while I had to drive it in nuetral as much as I could and stop every 15 minutes to poor in radiator fluid. Eventually that was fixed. The exhaust pipe was held together with metal zip ties. Finally I was able to get a new car, so the Toyota just had to last one more week. Well, that week the tire blew while I was driving. I waited an hour to get it towed to a shop to fix the tire. I got that fixed and started to drive home. I got one mile before the exhaust pipe was dragging. I couldn't drive it or Jimmy rigg it just to get home. So I had to get it towed again. The car was literally held together with tape and zip ties. Although, it was a good car, that worked for a long time. But damn, it was maddening for the last year.
