Just like humans, fruits and vegetables also have a cycle of life, filled with constant growth and changes. And, just like humans, their populations also have some weird fruits that don't fit in within the norms. Alterations in farming technology and methods, GMOs, and other factors can alter plants' appearances so much, they might start looking like something from Chernobyl.
Bored Panda has compiled a list of terrifyingly cool photos of awesome fruits and funny vegetables that proves how easily the common become bizarre. From strawberries sprouting seeds while they're still on the plant, to randomly blooming artichokes, and forever growing vegetables that seem never to stop expanding these plants would surprise even the most experienced gardeners. Scroll down to vote for your favorite flora Frankensteins, and feel free to upload your own photos of unexpected seed germination.

Here's What Happens When You Leave Half A Cabbage In The Fridge Too Long.
Hey, plant it and you don't have to buy any more cabbage for a while! :)

Why is this terrifying at all ???????
Because no one knows where their food comes from anymore. Very sad.
That's my very thoughts as well PN. These 'so called' responsible posters are doing all they can to make their work look better than it really is. So, they add glowing, or frightening manure in order to gain attention to you, me, and others. This has got to stop. We're supposed to be adults and should have the maturity to at least act as such. And if they don't do a good joy, we should all be on them like "Stink on Sh-t". Sorry if I appear going overboard, but I have passed through disappointment, and currently in the "aggravated stage.
you passed 'going overboard' a few nautical miles back
Well, it's not something unnatural but such early sprouting fruits are not quite common and admit it, some fruits and veggies(especially the strawberries) looks like they are from another world.
Tbh they only look like they're from another world if you don't know the one you're living on very well :p
This is unnatural because inside of fruit there is supposed to be a hormone stopping the seeds from growing (for example Apple trees; they grow apples by september and then the seeds have to survive the winter. The Apple with the anti sprouting hormone protects the seeds with a fruit untill spring when the fruits decays and serves as a fertilizer).
its called trypophobia.
it's just kinda gross
Well the potatos and strawberries looked a bit freaky.
lol Potatoes are by far the most common to sprout like this though. XD A lot of times they're already putting out stubby roots before people even get to use them.
Is it just me who isn't terrified or uncomfortable looking at things which are completely normal and natural.. not to mention commonplace enough not to be panicked about ?Or am i missing something here !!!??????
You are not alone XD but let's panick! PLANTS GERMINATE! Beware! Killer tomatoes are coming!
Now m worried about the potatoes i left at home...!!!
I absolutely love it! When anything in my fridge starts to grow, I put it in the soil. I tryed to grow chilli, potatoes, avocado, oranges... And I have no garden, just balcony. My daughter wants to buy some seeds everytime, when she notices them in grocery store.
Yeah, the primary reason fruit exists is to provide nutrients for the seeds within it to start growing or to attract animals that will eat the fruit and disperse the seeds. I didn't find anything creepy about any of these.
Terrifying... not at all. Except maybe the papaya. That one looks disgusting. But I did enjoy seeing the other ones. I'd never seen a strawberry sprout before :D
I am amazed! I can't even get my seeds to grow :(
tell me about it! what with controlled seeds, we rarely get anything to actually grow :( I'd be immensely happy to have that happen to me for something else except spuds.
Me either. Just some fool using Buzzwords. Nature will be nature.
Agree! On the contrary I found this post really amazing since it shows yet again how nature has its ways and will fight to sprout, grow, pierce plastic etc in order to survive!!
Terrifying really? Growing plants? Let's fear the killer tomatoes strike back !
