Some People Are Poor, But Rich By Heart
When I lived in Philadelphia, one of my roommates made notes of where every homeless person with a dog tended to hang out, and then twice a week she would make the rounds in Center City bringing all of them dog food. Eventually 2 of us started helping her so she didn't have to carry it all by herself.
Bless you guys! I would have helped out if i didn't live on the other side of the world!
Load More Replies...sometimes, a person is homeless, and the only thing that gives them happiness is caring for their animals.
Am I broken that I would give dogfood to the dog before giving food to the person? I feel more sorry for the dog.
We never know the circumstances how he became homeless. In the Netherlands there are a lot of people with a psychiatric disorder who came to live on the streets due to healthcare cuts. They sometimes have dogs they always take good care of. Once saw a guy in hospital where his toes needed to be amputated but he didn’t want to leave his dog on the streets. So one of the nurses stepped in. She told me that the dog was really well trained and in excellent condition. If only the owner could be as kind to himself as he was to the dog.
Load More Replies...I am hoping that when people see this scene that a few may change a few of their negative thoughts about the Homeless or Houseless they may have. This person is definitely taking care of family it appears. The only other thing I will say is, you shouldn't be smoking around your kids.
Those dogs have probably saved his life even more than he has theirs. The unconditional love and loyalty of a dog is enough to keep you fighting another day and by the looks of it, he knows that. This is a family.
Cop Saved Tiny Terrified Sloth Stuck On A Highway
Sloths have a hard time in general, with each of them falling out of trees at least once a week, and we are talking from a high azz tree. They are built to survive the tree falls but not being run over by a 2,500 plus pound motor vehicle. Gracias Señor Police Officer for helping this cutie pie.
He looks so happy to see them. It's actually not difficult to relocate one, one just has to know that it actually has four arms so picking them up from the exact centre of the back is essential.
‘Weird & Interesting Things You Must See’ is a relatively new addition to the internet, created just a few months ago in May. Despite its recent start, the page has already attracted 87K followers. To find out what makes the group so special, Bored Panda spoke with two of its admins, Kushani Gunathilaka and Hasitha Eranga.
“This is a community where you can always expect the unexpected,” Kushani tells us. “It’s never boring and always exciting. From seeing walruses on floating couches to structural marvels like the Ouse Valley semi-circular arches that have used millions and millions of bricks, the group is all about interesting, entertaining, and informative content. You laugh, you enjoy, you feel, you relate and you even learn things here. All of this makes the community an enjoyable space for me and surely for the rest of the members.”

They do this in Japan. Not the statue itself, but support for long, big branches. When you don't know yet, you wonder what kind of weird trees they have in their parks.
I know one park in Japan that's over a hundred years old. The trees are HUGE. It always strikes me how CLEAN it is. Even the grass is clean, somehow.

The admins enjoy the posts in the group just as much as its members. One of Kushani’s recent favorites is about Wally the Walrus, who was given a floating couch to stop him from sinking boats. “Who would’ve thought, right? It’s weird but also interesting because it shows harmony between nature and humanity.”
She also had a great laugh at a photo of a man standing in front of a “Draw Bridge Ahead” sign. Instead of taking it as a warning for an upcoming drawbridge, he made a joke by drawing an actual picture of a bridge. “He took the sign a little too literally, and it’s pretty hilarious.”

“As humans, we naturally seek out new and interesting things because we are hard-wired for it,” says Russell. “In modern life, we are often faced with routines that can be mundane or repetitive, and so people like to look at interesting content to break the monotony.”
“There’s also an element of escape in looking at weird or funny clips and photos. When we’re having a tough day and need to unwind, turning to this kind of content can be a helpful way to manage feelings of overwhelm.”
The Akhal-Teke Is Probably The Most Beautiful Horse Breed In Existence
Apart from their breathtaking metallic sheen (lending them their nickname "The Golden Horse"), they are also known for their speed and intelligence. There are about 6,600 of them on Earth. DNA research found the Akhal-Teke to be one of the oldest horse breeds alive today
They aren't all golden coloured, but other colours as well. It's the sheen of the coat that is remarkable and not the colour.
But in this horse the color is certainly remarkable.

Kushani agrees that the internet can offer a refreshing break from the predictability of daily life, providing a touch of excitement instead. “That’s what people need,” she says. “They want to escape the ordinary. And what better place to do it than online? Through social media platforms, you can live vicariously through the experiences of others.”

Nature Defeats Technology
This is why I don't worry about artificial intelligence. Like Ian Malcolm said, Nature always finds a way.
And it’s no wonder we feel so uplifted as we scroll through the internet—our brains reward us with happy emotions whenever we encounter something new. “Novelty seeking is linked to a neurochemical called dopamine, which is part of our brain’s reward centre,” explains Russell. “This means that occasionally coming across a funny or interesting post can give us a little boost. However, this effect will lessen if we engage with this type of content too habitually, so it’s worth keeping an eye on how much you’re consuming. As with anything in life, moderation is the key.”

Of course, cutting down on screen use can be challenging, especially since it’s such an easy way to combat boredom or manage stress. But Russell encourages having other coping methods in place to prevent spending too much time online from negatively impacting your mood. “Make sure you have other coping strategies such as exercise, social support, relaxation techniques and taking positive action when needed,” she advises.

Tiny Spider Built Fence Around Her Eggs For Protection Against Predators
Fascinating how long it took scientists to figure out iit was done by a spider, for the longest time they only ever found the structures empty. Was one dedicated person who finally managed to confirm it was a spider nest when they saw a spider hatch from one, eating its way out. Nature is amazing!

Squirrel With His Newborn Baby
This may not be as adorable as you think. Ask yourself why a baby that young was removed from the nest... "Yes, some species of squirrels, including red squirrels, are known to kill their young, a behavior called infanticide. This behavior can be a survival tactic to reduce competition and increase the chances of success. For example, male red squirrels may kill the offspring of rival males to increase their chances of fathering pups when the female breeds again. This is called sexually selected infanticide."
Because that's what life is about: not birth, parental bonding or the miracle of life: pronoun.

I didn't see any reference to glue in this article or the article it links to about this particular photo, but it does sound like it had to have been staged based on the herpetologists consulted, who said that the open mouth in this and other photos of the same pair is a sign of distress in the frog and that the arm/hand position isn't normal. Anyway, thanks for raising that this is a problematic photo and likely means there was cruelty involved, even though you changed what the sources had to say.

I would upvote but isn't this teaching wildlife to associate humans with food?
yes, I think Lakota Wolf said this is why she wouldn't recommend feeding wild animals. Give them water, but no food.
Load More Replies...Don't feed the animals. Only give a bear a banana if he needs to measure something.
For all of those worrying that we're teaching bears bad habits, a number of studies have shown that bears are smart enough to figure out that humans are a good source to get food without it needing to be a learned behavior. Not saying that you should be feeding the wildlife, but the bears have already figured it out on their own.
Please sir. I want some more. But seriously, DONT FEED THE WILDLIFE!!!!

The building is called Begich Towers, a 14-story apartment complex that houses about 90% of the town's residents (total: 272). This has earned Whittier the nickname of a "town under one roof". The building, originally constructed as an army barracks, now serves as a cozy condominium featuring a post office, general store, police station, laundromat, health clinic, mayor's office, and a heated indoor pool. Whittier, Alaska is accessible only by air or through a single-lane tunnel that stretches over two miles through neighboring Maynard Mountain. With A Leg Span Of Up To 12 Inches, The Giant Huntsman Spider Is One Of The Most Terrifying Arachnids On Earth
Not only are these creatures enormous, but they're also incredibly fast. In fact, they move so quickly that they don't even bother weaving webs to hunt their prey. Instead, they race at their victims with their pincers bared — and they can kill anything from insects to possums.

The Hidden Oil Rigs Of L.A
Before Los Angeles was known for making movies, it was known for making something else; oil. Believe it or not, L.A. used to be a small seaside town until the late 1800s. In 1892, Edward L. Doheny discovered the first successful oil well near present-day Dodger Stadium. The Los Angeles Oil Field became California's top-producing oil field and in 1901, there were 200 separate oil companies active there. Over time though, the city was being built on top of these oil fields. While Los Angeles doesn't look like the oil giant it once was, there are still a number of active drill sites all over the city. These oil rigs are hidden in plain view on high school campuses, attached to shopping malls, and located inside buildings that otherwise look like regular office buildings.
For people who complain that L.A. is ugly and looks too busy, a reminder of what it used to be.
