I'm amazed at people with animals. Where I live, health regulations don't allow animals in stores that sell food, unless they are service dogs - and only dogs - wearing legally regulated vests. On the plus side, we don't have Wallmart in my country.

I worked in a grocery store for two and a half years during the pandemic. I absolutely love animals, but I HATED when people would just casually bring their pets into the grocery store. Most of them didn't even try bothering to pretend they were "emotional support animals". If the dogs went to the bathroom, us employees had to clean it up if the owner didn't (and they rarely did.) I remember one time a person came in with their dog in their arms, and the dog was leaned over licking grapes while the person was looking at some other fruits. I'd take my dogs everywhere with me if I COULD, but I don't, because there are places that pet dogs do NOT belong. We had a regular who used to bring in his very large Belgian Malinois every time he shopped, and while the dog loved me, it would growl and snap at other employees and customers. IMO that behavior is unfair to other customers.

It's about price point and volume. It is a truly massive chain. Largest employer in the US, second only to the US government. The product selection appeals to people of lesser means, so you literally get all types.
