Porto Travel Sketchbook

I made this accordion folded sketchbook and filled it with drawings during my 6 days trip to Porto.

I try to explore every city I visit through sketching on location. Of course, it takes longer time to draw something, than to take a picture of it. From the other hand, I observe things longer and from the differenz perspective. Sketching also helps me to find contact with the city residents. I always check up, if the local Urbansketchers group has a meeting during the time I visit, and join them.

I usually add some notes later, and try to find more information and interesting facts in the internet about the places, I’ve been and sketched. Some words and phrases are written in Portuguese, even I don’t speak it, it makes my notes look more authentic.

Tool used: fountain penm brushpen filled with ink, watercolors.
