We Moved To Live In The Worst Place In England, And Here’s What It’s Like

6 months ago we moved to Dover that was voted to be the worst place to live in England.

We never stopped taking photos of the truly terrifying things we found here and even created a Facebook page called ‘Shepherds of Dover’ to celebrate and share the horrors with you!

More info: Facebook

The town is filled with beautiful historic buildings

And there’s the castle…

Should we mention that the Europe’s best preserved Roman lighthouse still stands here?

Our town is as beautiful at night as it is during the day

We have our own Banksy and we’re proud of it

And quirky decorations!

Even nature approves the beauty of our town

And we’re known to have THE best skies

We have a fabulous community!

And loads of events all year round

The coast is filled with treasures for us to find, such as this shipwreck from 1926

Not to mention that for centuries we’re taking the role of being the gateway to England

And those cliffs…

There’s no place as beautiful!

And we can see France!

And our green spaces are always guarded by cattle, sheep and ponies!

Our town is extremely dog friendly, they allow dogs in the castle!

And the nature around us is astonishing

Also, we know the places where we can hide from your negativity ;)

Credit to whoever took these photos; you managed to avoid getting a single drunk smackhead in shot! Let's go over some of Dover's other treasures, speaking as a resident of 34 years: - The family of *actual* inbreeds who live near St Radigunds - The fact that around 70% of high street shops are boarded up - The town is a no go area at night because of gangs - Rampant alcoholism. I worked in the library for 4 years and would turn away abusive drunks as early as 10am - One of the highest rates of teen pregnancy in the county - It's a hot spot for far right groups such as Britain First and the EDL. - As it's a port town it's crawling with drug dealers Not *one* of the pictures there shows the town centre or anywhere that would constitute Dover the town. Sticking some filtered pictures up on the internet with platitudes underneath doesn't change the fact that the town is a dump and at the very least 90% of the people there need incinerating.

Last August we were tourist visitors staying in a B&B, we ventured into Dover for an evening meal before an early Saturday Morning ferry ... Thank Goodness our children are older teenagers & we found the wonderful independent Burger Bar in the Town Square ... we were approached by several drunks asking for money, it was only 7/8pm & Weatherspoons was already VERY lively ... on our way back to our B&B we saw several fights. If I visit Dover, other than to use the ferry, it will be during weekday daytime!!

We moved from London. We see a lot of beauty in Dover. Yes it has its downsides but then again so does Peckham and Walthamstow...and i know which one I definitely prefer. I prefer the one that has less crime, more cleaner air, people that actually speak English plus are polite (what a bonus nowadays) more open spaces, more activites to do, lovely clean beaches, beautiful english channel view, and no traffic wardens harrasing you, whehey! You guessed it...definitely don't sound like Peckham or Walthamstow to me! They (people who haven't got about much) should think twice before they call it the backside of UK. I've seen far worse coming from the capital!

Although im not particularly keen on the town of Dover, i never get tired of seeing the white cliffs in the distance on my ferry trips home from Europe, or looking out from the port and seeing France in the distance. Theres just something nice about standing on the very edge of your country, on the edge of the only home you've ever known, or seeing it in the horizon as you approach your beloved island as you take the ferry ride home from your travels

Property prices are a whole lot cheaper in Dover, if you really mean it. The problem with Dover is lack of demand, for some of the reasons given here. Margate is actually nicer, a fabulous beach, and probably no more expensive.
