Whether happy or not, we live. With or without knowing, we create. Therefore every human being is considered a creator. People create by means of living their lives, their emotions and thoughts, even so the question arises: What do they create? Take a look around you. What can you see? Is it a city, a house, or a shopping mall? We create so much, however, it may be way too much.
It seems like we forget the place where we live. It is not states, countries, cities nor villages. It is the Planet. Explicitly the Earth is the reason for humans’ existence. The Earth is the environment. It seems like we forget the Earth is a living organism as we are. Undoubtedly, the Earth is our mother. But where has our relationship with her gone? We construct buildings, waste natural resources and kill other species. Trash is everywhere. How can we even do this? Are we really replacing nature with buildings just to sit inside of them and look at our cellphones? We are no longer creators. We are destroyers and in fact prisoners of our “supercool hi-tech age”.
The humans perceive themselves as the most intelligent species on this planet. But wait. How can we consider ourselves as the most intelligent species while we are destroying the place we live? The truth is that the human race is not intelligent at all. Our lifestyle may be a supporting evidence of this reality. Cigarettes, drugs, alcohol. We destroy our bodies.
Our planet, the Earth, is by far the most beautiful and habitable planet in the Solar System and we are right on the edge of destroying it. The “big guys” are racing to colonize Mars. We, the human race celebrate the space flights. Oh right, because one destroyed planet is not enough.
You may be questioning yourself now: “But what am I supposed to do about it? It’s much bigger than me.” Intellectually we all agree that change must happen, but we are neither so sure nor comfortable when that change has to start with ourselves. Some claim the time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. You must be the change you want to see in the world. You can start with small things like riding a bike to work or school instead of taking a bus. Produce less rubbish and be more Eco friendly, just stop throwing the rubbish everywhere. Stop supporting the killing of any animals for different purposes. Are you asking me how? What about asking yourself a simple question: “What have I been eating last three days?”
There are many ways to prevent the environmental destroying, but only those who truly want it can make it happen. There is a possibility of people living in a very harmonic relationship with nature.
I know it is always easier to find excuses and arguments and thus it may seem as the reason why we look like we do not care anymore.
Perhaps human race forgets who is the boss here. Look how small we are compared to Earth. You can look at today’s modern society. Sooner or later you will see the real picture. The Earth can live without us but we cannot live without her.
