Paris is a city of contrasts. Contrasts in cultures, lifestyles and of course architecture.
After 2 years of living in Paris and countless trips to the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumph and Louvre I found myself wanting to explore the lesser known parts of this wonderful city.
I started to seek out the lesser known parts of Paris and in doing so stumbled upon the Brutalist and Modernist architecture of the city of light. These Monolithic giants, rigid and unrelenting were almost the antithesis of traditional Parisian architecture and I was immediately hooked.
Only a short walk from the Eiffel Tower in the 15th Arrondissement of Paris you will find Beaugrenelle. A densely packed jungle of steel, glass and concrete that seems so at odds with the surrounding area. It is within that contrast that I also think there is immense beauty.
I spent an afternoon exploring the angles, shadows and people that make up life amongst these standing stones. Just remember next time you are in Paris or any city for that matter you can always find beauty if you are willing to do a little exploring and keep an open mind.
