Hi, my name is Catalin Bindiu. I am a Romanian photographer based in Malta, you can find my works online under the name of BlackBookPhoto.

In August 2016 during a missionary work, I travelled to Adigrat Ethiopia which is close to the border with Eritrea, a country riddled by war and its aftermath, I did not succeed to take photos of the beautiful surroundings namely of `the roof top of Africa` as it is so appropriately renown.

Nevertheless, I managed to take a couple of shots with faces of people that surrounded me during my stay there. It is common practice for visitors or photographers alike to take photos of these impoverished but expressive people, hence I consider my work a bit of a cliché, however it is impossible not to be stricken by the faces of these Ethiopian children and adults alike – after all Ethiopia is one of the birth places of humanity hence giving birth to some of the most interesting and captivating faces from the globe.

From a photographic point of view, my trip to Ethiopia was a paradoxical experience – one minute tears of joy are flowing down your face and the next of sorrow, pain and compassion. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Please check out my collection of 12 photos of people from Ethiopia. In order to find out more information about me and my work, kindly check out my facebook page and website “BlackBookPhoto“

Thank you
