With this project I will present one tiny glimpse of the magical world of bees. It’s taking place in Filippiada from the region of Epirus/ Greece. The beekeepers will try to multiply one beehive to four. In order for that to work first of all the current beehive must be strong, with large population. After that, the most important are the queen cells.
Every new beehive must have two queen cells. So, the beekeepers examine every frame of the current beehive to find the required queen cells. Bees have a unique communication code and appearance, which in a certain point of view, in addition with the beekeepers clothing, may seem a little bit… extraterrestrial!
The smoke makes the bees dizzy so that they’ll become less agressive.
The frames are being taken out of the hive one by one searching for the queen cells.

All the requested queen cells are found…
…and being put to a frame in each hive.
The hives are placed in a semicircle to confuse the bees, or else they will all return to the first hive.
