For every enlightening post out there, there seems to be at least one other that proves the population is getting dumber by the day.
Remember the 2006 movie Idiocracy? It was meant to be a satirical film critiquing modern society's anti-intellectualism and consumerism. Back then, it humorously depicted a future dominated by morons. Plot twist: it might not have been so fictitious after all.
There’s an entire online community aptly called Idiocracy. The page is dedicated to documenting the evolution of modern society as predicted by the film. I had a dream once where there was this evil substance (a kind of black creeping slime) that was slowly covering the entire world and would wipe everyone out if it did. It was successfully contained and locked away in a vault. Whereupon a bunch of idiots went and opened the vault and started smearing it all over themselves and also drinking it, claiming it would have all kinds of benefits. Unfortunately I woke up before they all presumably died screaming.

Reminds me of that eye doctor who told people they should rinse their eyes with boiled water. At some point, he had to phrase it like "Look into my eyes and listen carefully. 'Rinse with boiled water' means you boil the water and LET IT COOL DOWN."

I don't remember much from studying Japanese history in high school (early 80s). One fact I do recall was how Japan, after WWII, expanding their manufacturing by exporting to other countries. To assist in this, they named a town Usa, so Made in Usa would be printed on the goods manufactured there.

I don't know about the USA but here in the UK such a ridiculous legal claim would never even reach court. If you can reasonably foresee that something is going to cause you injury but you still do it anyway, you cannot sue for getting injured, especially if you do not take reasonable steps to mitigate the risk.

I always thought it was unfair to release mugshots before a person was convicted. I mean if they were falsely arrested but a mugshot is out there on the internet their life is going to be next to ruined anyway. Maybe mugshots everywhere was fine when it was in a daily newspaper in a small town where everyone knows Dave didn't do it and they'll forget it next week, but now that it is immortalized on the internet, I just don't think its ok.

Struggling with left and right is common in some forms of neurodivergence, as well as in people with Alzheimer's. It affects about 15% of the population (yes, including me!). It's nothing to do with intelligence, or lack of. If she prefers little tattoos to the 'holding out your thumbs' thing, which is pretty obvious and inspires the sort of mockery seen in some comments here, good for her.

Again, not as stupid as it seems. Isotonic and hypotonic drinks are formulated to improve fluid absorption, so they do hydrate you quicker than plain water. The osmolarity of drinking water is not the same as natural bodily fluids, which are more saline. Isotonic and hypotonic drinks contain salts and other solutes that makes their osmolarity the same or lower than bodily fluids, which means they are absorbed faster and hydrate better than plain water.
