Woman Is Shocked When SIL Starts Moving Her Stuff Into Their Guest Bedroom, Kicks Her Out

Some of our relatives have this super power of being a nuisance. They can effortlessly steer conversations toward controversial topics, share unsolicited advice, or, as Reddit user Prestigious_Nose_188‘s sister-in-law, show up unannounced.

In fact, her surprise visits got so frequent, that she was popping up almost every other day. However, when the Redditor told her to stop, the woman started turning to other family members for support, spreading lies, and the whole thing quickly blew way out proportion.

This woman got very annoyed with her sister-in-law who wouldn’t stop coming over unannounced

So she tried to get her to stop

Now, almost all of her in-laws are against her

Even though it sounds like she did nothing wrong

Anita A. Chlipala, LMFT, founder of Relationship Reality 312 in Chicago, thinks people always have a reason for why they do what they do.

She believes the following five types of sisters-in-law are pretty much the worst there are:

  • The Bossy Babs. She tries to control everything, even how you tuck in your shirt.
  • The Nosy Nancy. She wants to know everything, beginning with what your father does for a living.
  • The Jealous Jessica. She’s single and lets you and everyone else in the family know it. You know, because it’s all about her.
  • Competitive Cathy. Whether it’s the number of squats you did at the gym or the hours you worked last week, she always does more.
  • Rude Ruthy. Without fail, at every family gathering, she mutters something along the lines of, “It’s harder to let out a wedding dress than take it in.”

Judging from the Reddit post, the woman’s sister-in-law seems to fall into the third category.

The recipe to having a healthy relationship with your in-law is often to not force it. As psychotherapist Lori Gottlieb counsels a reader at The Atlantic, you don’t have to be best friends to see each other positively and create a loving family.

Sadly, it sounds that Prestigious_Nose_188’s SIL wasn’t even trying and was just thinking about herself.

As her story went viral, the woman provided more information on the situation in an edit of the post and its comments

People who read what happened unanimously said it’s the sister-in-law who’s out of line here

Sidebar issue: why in so many of these posts do friend and family feel the need to take a side and text/email/call an individual out on something that doesn't involve them...AND after hearing only one side? What is WRONG with people these days?!?

My guess is that in such families, those people are the enablers that even caused the unhinged person to become like that. They generally don't notice their wrongdoings and how much damage they actually do to the person they're spoiling (and everyone who has to deal with them).

1. Unless their house just burned down, no one gets to show up unannounced at someone's place and expect to stay for more than a coffee. 2. Even if they lived in a castle, it's their space to do with whatever they choose. You can ask nicely but a no is a no 3. People need to use the 'block' function on their phones more often

Change the locks, just in case, and get a video doorbell, so you can decide not to be in if she comes again.
