Sea Lion Drags Little Girl Underwater, And The Whole Terrifying Scene Is Captured On Cam
76Kviews
For this family of tourists at the Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf in Canada, it was supposed to be just another pleasant afternoon feeding sea lions and enjoying the animals’ company. However, a terrifying video shows a sea lion grabbing the little girl and dragging her into water – all this horror happening in just a blink of an eye!
The video was taken by Michael Fujiwara from Vancouver. He said: “I was just sitting by the dock and then this sea lion popped its head out of the water just in front of me. I just took out my cell phone and started filming.”
“The sea lion actually attracted a lot of attention from the visitors there, including the young girl… She and her family, I guess, they came, they started feeding the animal bread crumbs or whatever it was, and then I guess the animal got a little too comfortable.”
The girl was saved by a brave man who is thought to be her relative. Clearly, both the girl and the saviour felt traumatized by the experience.
It’s not clear if the sea lion intended any harm – usually they’re known for being highly intelligent creatures who are gentle and timid by nature. Nevertheless, the video serves as an alarming reminder to be more careful around wild creatures.

If you watch the full video, you clearly see that the sea lion has jumped up before. This was the latest moment the careless parents should have told their daughter to not get too close. Besides, feeding bread to a sea lion is a very odd idea. The reaction by the guy jumping after the little girl is very brave, though.
I completely agree
That guy jumped in without any hesitation. Total badass.
The 'Total Badass' is her grandfather too. I saw him in a conversation on another site.
That's not a "badass" that's just a decent human being who would do what any decent person would do trying to save a child.
or again human instinct. which is decent inherently.
Then why is he the only one that jumps in? The others stand there shocked while this guy just does what needs to be done. Not a lot of people know what to do in a stressful situation. That has nothing to do with decency. I'm sure they would al jump in after the kid, but they don't. This guy does.
or human instinct.
Doesn't look like the big guy meant any harm. He was just after more snacks. Just a misunderstanding.
I worked at a penguin colony as a tour guide, I've seen southern version of these tear the head off a penguin just to eat the brains. Their teeth are very sharp & their jaws strong. He could have easily held her underwater even if it hadn't wanted to hurt her. Things like this is why we had a strict no feeding the wildlife rule.
Yup. It's not always malicious when something bad happens via animal. Luckily this girl didn't get dragged down after hitting her head on the boat and getting knocked out. That's some seriously murky water.
Wha?!!! Why would it only the brain? To get smarter?!?! Jeez!!!
