Not everything in nature is as beautiful or as hilarious as we're mostly used to. It has a dark side, too, and I'll completely understand if this list by Bored Panda forces you to build a pillow-fort in your living room and avoid going outside for a week.
From a mama centipede protecting its babies to a wasp colony building a nest around a discarded doll, these pictures feature some of the scariest things Mother Earth has to offer. Scroll down to test how brave you are, and vote for your favorite entries.

I did too, in fact, before I did a Google Image search, I commented on what an awesome piece of art it is! Ahhh! the many gifts of art that Mother Nature bestows upon us for inspiration, and perhaps, reminders that we best take good care of Her so that we may continue to appreciate Her bounty!

Some sicko hung the doll in a tree no doubt ! NOT ME !

How'd the doll get up in the tree. And how big is it, since it looks a lot like a baby doll but it looks huge.
This Frog Was Found All Dried Up And Withered Outside The Store In The Morning. The Store Manager Said, "Let's Try Splashing Some Water On It," And Holy Sh*t It Came Back To F*cking Life
I've seen this on television. There's a species of desert frogs that bury themselves in the mud after it rains. The mud dries, and they stay underground, sometimes for years, until it rains again. They come back to life. Then they have a mating frenzy and bury themselves again. Or something like that...
We had this huge toad in our backyard as kids. We would unbury him and play and then put him back. He was there for years. Weird?
Load More Replies...They also free solid and thaw Back to Life too. Remember doing that in science classes a kid now that I think about it that was kind of mean what we did to that frog

Please, please not a fox ! My lock screen is a fox . I have fox pillows. I'm slightly fox deranged .
This will attract people to the lake instead of keeping them off. If I saw this, I will come closer to see what's happening.

Devil's Fingers Fungus
Just in case, I would'nt stay around to wait for a facehugger to show up....
Load More Replies...I had to Google what it was and what it did it was so weird looking this is what Google said: devils fingers aka Clathrus archeri is one of the phalloid fungi (Phallales) and is related to the common stinkhorn ( Phallus impudicus), a well-known woodland fungus in Britain. It similarly produces a sticky spore-bearing tissue designed to attract flies which are the agents of spore dispersal. Like other phalloids,C. archeri accumulates manganese in the egg-stage, apparently important chemically in producing the sugars and odorous substances found in the fertile tissue

So Many Bees In The Wall That Their Honey Is Leaking Through An Outlet
OH GOD NOPE. NOT BEES. F*****G MOVE AWAY FROM THIS HOUSE. NOPE. NOPE. NOOOPE.
I had some sort of aggressive bees (not honey bees) or wasps build a nest one summer in the outer wall of my bedroom. Despite treatments it kept growing. It took multiple attacks by the exterminator to get rid of them. It was like living in an Alfred Hitchcock movie. The buzzing became so loud at night I had to sleep in a different bedroom. It was downright creepy to try and curl up and read a book and hear that.

Lizard Growing Another Foot On It's Tail?
Ha! And you though only cells could reproduce asexually. One day... one day.
You need to do some biology homework. Do you know what asexual reproduction is? This is a genetic mutation..... nothing to do w whether something is reproduced sexually or asexually.
Load More Replies...wow that new foot will come handy to run away when the tail is detached from lizard body and divert the predator!
It's not a mutation. Lizards can regenerate some parts of their bodies. If the tail was cut off near the leg than it would explain why there's some kind of foot on its tail.
wow that is creepy if I ever see this there will be problems

it's dead guys. Cordyceps fungi kill their hosts and are species specific. Only this species of spider will get this fungus. Millions Of Fire Ants Floating In Flooding From Harvey
I don't even want to imagine the agony of creatures that will come in their way!
i agree! Those ants, even though they've created their own boat, would gladly and without hesitation jump on any larger solid body!
Load More Replies...Can't they be burnt.. I know that this sounds awful. But these ants are merciless when they attack something.
Dishwashing liquid breaks up the wax they use to hold together. Then they drown. Just a tidbit of info in case you ever need it!
Load More Replies...Harvey destroyed so much here in Texas... And of course the fire-ants lived... :/ yippee.
They really should take this opportunity to throw some serious fire onto those BA stars while they're all floating out in the open. They're horrific and have no redeemable qualities other than instilling horror into the hearts of children everywhere.
totally agree with you there...especially since I live in the dirty south (Lafayette Louisiana). sadly, I must admit that, like wasps, they have their purpose. they take care of insects and help break down dead things while wasps keep insect populations under control (especially spiders...if you ever get the chance to break open a mud dauber's nest, all kinds of crazy, paralysed spiders fall out...used to feed the larvae/young. I've seen spiders, I've never laid eyes on before). of course, since ants outnumber humans, we can burn em and feel no remorse. now,mosquitoes...those bastards have no purpose other than to annoy; unless they're here to keep our population under control.🤔

Never had a personal experience with those geese, yet (LUCKILY!). But I also steer clear of them, whenever we cross paths... in Europe.
Load More Replies...They are Canada Geese, not Canadian Geese....the geese do not have a nationality!

Gecko Eats His Own Tail
This is a natural responce. It prevents predators from tracking the lizard and/or cleans up the lizard's living area. It's the same basic premis as mother dogs licking their puppies urine and poo up.
They do this sometimes if it breaks off or they have to break it off themselves if underfed. The owner probably neglected him!
Fatal Blow
A fascinating thing about chameleons is that they actually have incredibly powerful tongues. They can really "pack a punch" when they hunt. That bug was probably dead before it even got to the chameleon's mouth! 🐜+🦎= ☠️🐜
It wasn't a mistake. The chameleon was launching its (very powerful) tongue at the bug, thus landing a fatal blow.
