I Illustrated The Sad Tale Of My Two Cute Puppies Who I Sadly Won’t See Grow Up

I have adopted 2 cute stray puppies, my brother, and his girlfriend were co-parents as well, it was a huge responsibility, but we fell in love with them completely.

But life is cruel, a disease took them away from us, and this is my sad story, if you can’t handle it, please close the link. But before you do that, please read my desperate message first.

Because of the lack of knowledge and money, the man who rescued the stray dogs didn’t bring them to the vet for vaccination which caused the whole pack (9 adult dog and 6 puppies) to be infected with the Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) – it’s fatal. An adult dog has a 60% chance to survive, but a young puppy has only 10%.

They gave us two puppies without knowing they were infected. Even though, we soon discovered the symptoms and brought them to the vet clinic… it was too late.

In Vietnam, we are lacking pet care, animal shelter and disease control protocols, many sick stray dogs are roaming the streets. We really hope to have better solutions for them, but right now Animal rescue is spontaneous and disorganized.

This comic is my prayer for my puppies.

At least they died knowing that they were loved and appreciated. A few years ago I buried Ragamuffin, an alley cat who walked into my house as if she owned the place - and shortly after had five kittens in my bathroom. I found good homes for all the little 'uns and had Rags fixed. She was my constant companion for 17 years. After she passed I acquired two kittens from a co-worker who, like me, had been adopted by a pregnant stray.

That's so painful :( Here is my little Daenerys. She fell ill when she was only 4 months. We tried to save her desperately, almost for a week we made her shots every hour. But she left us. The most heartbreaking thing was to feel utterly incapable of any help. She just looked at us sadly and asked not to leave her alone. I cried for months. And I'm crying now. So very sorry for anyone who mourns their furfriends IMG_201606...78c247.jpg IMG_20160626_165211-COLLAGE-5c87e5478c247.jpg

We adopted a beautiful kitty, and he died suddenly after 7 months. That was in 2016 and I STILL miss him so much. He was the quintessential cat that thinks their a dog. So our dog, who doesn't like cats, still got along with him. He was ornery as hell, too. Anyway, please take solace in knowing that those two fur babies knew true love, comfort, safety, etc. in their lifetime. There are so many animals out there that don't get that opportunity. Hugs!

We adopted a stray kitten that wondered onto our porch and took him to the vet right away for shots and to make sure he was healthy. They said a few more days on his own and he would not have made it but aside from being malnourished and having fleas, he was given a clean bill of health. At close to 1 year, he started getting very sick. He was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia (luckily, all our cats were vaccinated so none of the others got it). We tried so many treatments and spent a lot of money trying to save him but it was not to be. I fell into a deep funk wondering why this had to happen to such a tiny sweet little guy. My husband made me feel much better by telling me that even with the sad outcome, Murphy got to know what love and home was before he died and he wouldn't have had that without us. Please think of that and know that you gave a wonderful gift to those pups for their time here on Earth.

This is so sad, as someone who loves his dogs more than life itself, this just kills me, i had a few pass on far too young and i will never forget any of them, like Marc already said, focus on the happy time together, you gave them a lovely life in their short time, that's what they would of known, love and care, of course grieve for them and it will be sad but you get used to the sadness, i have the ashes of mine who have passed mixed into tattoo ink so they will be with me forever. They are part of our family as much as any human.Sorry for your loss, i know how it feels, the worst times of my life have been pets passing away, i still choke up when i think about my furry little buddies.

This is so sad. I'd also like to warn people about otc pet products. I was given a kitten by a co-worker who I promptly fell in love with. He's was a little white fluff ball who I named Casper. Unfortunately when Casper was given to me he brought a whole lot of fleas along with him. Being young (20) never having owned a pet before I did what I thought made sense and went to the drug store and bought a flea bath. Even then I was worried about his age so I diluted it even more than the instructions. Within hours he started to sneeze but I thought he just didn't like the smell. The next morning he seemed quiet but ok so I went to work. When I got home he was listless & panting. It looked as though he had dragged himself across the floor. I rushed him to a vet who performed CPR but it was too late. Through my tears I was told to never trust those big name companies like Hartz. There are many, many lawsuits involving much bigger, healthier animals. If you need a flea dip see a vet. :(

Hartz. So many horror stories. I’m sorry for your loss. You had no way of knowing. Please don’t beat yourself up about this. I had kittens that got distemper but I also had washed them in Hartz prior to the distemper. At first I thought it was the flea bath but a vet told me it was distemper based on the symptoms. I still don’t know 100% sure but will never again use Hartz either way.

But God why is life so unfair? At this sentence my heart broke :( I sit here at work and I cry... but it is unfair :( I am so happy my little puppy (dog) he is 9 years old survived, he was so sick, he had water in his brain and the vet said he would not make it, but he was sooo strong and now he is healthy and happy. But I understand the pain and how it hurts when you lose someone you love

As much as we want to be able to save them all, life happens the way it does sometimes. I hope you'll find peace in the fact that they were loved and taken good care of before their goodbyes.

I am so sorry I lost our puppy Beethoven St Bernard who appeared in Pfizer ads for Clavamox A woman and her kids came into our home and never told us they had lost their dog from Parvo. I lost him and his sister Missey made it with the help fo good vets and God. And yes they were vaccinated... We lost a litter of 8 min pins from Rosie and Jimmy who were only 2 wks old and could not be vaccinated. Lost our 2 poms, also had been vaccinated against parvo, Chloe and Fritz. Parvo even today is still the fastest killing animal disease. And costly and the outcome is normally always they pass away. Your little friends are not alone, they are at the Rainbow Brigde. My Albert is there now with all of our dogs and cats and farm and wild animals we took care of for 58+ yrs your little ones are with our gang and they will remember you when it is time, a long time away, when you come up to clam them and then you all will walk into Paradise.Thank You or you love of HIS animal Friends.PAX+

It’s so horrible. This happened to me with a set of three kittens my ex found abandoned outside. It suddenly hit and they stopped eating. Stopped being able to stand and move. Stopped drinking. All I could do was hold them in a blanket and sing to them until they passed away. They were so tiny. Distemper is the worst. We have to love and care for all animals. It is our responsibility as human beings.

Pet deaths are terrible. They tear you up from the inside and out. But the thing about them, is you can recover from them. Just remember, if they were in pain, they are much happier in heaven than on earth suffering. If they weren’t in pain, they are now in heaven playing/eating infinite toys/treats

I adopted a little puppy two weeks ago. She was the sweetest puppy I've ever met. She was just 45 days old and ended up having this same awful disease. We did everything to save her and lost her two days ago. It's so sad and so unfair. In Argentina we also have a lack of pet care in many places. I completely understand what you're going through.

Sorry for your loss, I know the pain but not the same, unfortunately it is the city's responsibility and would say the cost to help animals is too much, if there is at least a vet, you could start a group of volunteers to help the city with strays, to spay and neuter and the shots to prevent the problems, sad but it takes much money !!!

I'm so sorry. I know what it feels like to lose a pet, I had to put down my best friend earlier last year. It's heartbreaking. But just keep going, focus on other things, instead. Like work, or hobbies. I know it'll be hard for some time, and I know they could never be replaced, but thank you so much for sharing your story. I wish you all the best

So sad, and my heart aches for you, OP. But I bet you did everything you could to make the last few weeks of these little angel pups as comfortable and as enjoyable as you could. They may not have had that, if you and your family had not opened your hearts to them.

i am soooo sorry for your loss of your babies! Your illustration & tribute to them truly touched my heart! I hope in time you are able to save another puppy or two...or 10...to bring that joy of unconditional puppy love back into your life. May your babies sleep well and find mine as well on their journey to the rainbow bridge! <3

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my cat of 16 years two months ago and had also lost plenty of stray cats that I try and take care of.

It’s still way too common here in the USA also! Puppies are like kids, they need certain vaccines to remain alive, or die. Please, take your puppies for their vaccines! Save their lives and save the life they were born to live...

Even the shortest time a pup is given shelter, love, nutrition, companionship, is a gift to both dog and deserving human. Bless you for giving dogs the happiness they so deserve.

This is a lovely testimony of your love for two wonderful creatures. Pets are in our lives for a brief period, so shower them with love and affection because it´s the only thing we can do for them (besides the obvious, of course, food, shelter, etc.).

They are also too young to understand they are in heaven, but They will come to realized that it is an equally good place as your home before they left. They were loved, and they love you too, sending you happiness and wishes.

I haven’t lost a pet, but it’s hard enough to think about what would happen if I lost my dog after knowing him and loving him for so long. The pain must be very nearly unbearable.
