‘Real Beauty’: 45 Photos Shared On The ‘Instagram Vs. Reality’ Group That Are A Contrast To Heavily Photoshopped Pics
InterviewThe internet makes even the best of us temporarily cynical, but it’s also full of wholesome, soul-healing content to set the record straight. Even though social media can feel like it’s full to the brim of fakeness, bragging, and photo-editing, from time to time, people share such genuine photos of themselves, it’s like a breath of fresh air.
Many of you Pandas know r/Instagramreality, a subreddit with over a million members, as a place that calls out Instagrammers and influencers who photoshop their pics to hell and back. However, the subreddit has so-called ‘Sanity Sundays’ when redditors are encouraged to post unedited images of what real beauty looks like. What follows is a collection of these genuine posts.
After you upvote your favorite photos, be sure to scroll down to have a read what the head moderator of the subreddit had to say to Bored Panda. When you're done with this list, you can take a look at the dark side of heavy photo-editing in our previous articles about r/Instagramreality here, here, and here.

She’s Firing Back
Despite the fact that this was an extremely rude comment, it's not even true!! This is horrific acne? They haven't seen horrific acne i think
It still looks like it could be painful. Poor thing. Pain can really grind people down.

I don't understand bullies...like..acne is a natural part of everyone's life, some a little more than others but it's nothing unusual.
Horrific are photoshopped pics of people that makes their skin look like plastic. She is amazing!
Media inflating things for clicks / views, pretty standard practice across-the-board unfortunately

I can't believe they've used the term "horrific". Daily Mail is the lowest of the low. My youngest daughter had quite serious acne and it nearly destroyed her. The press need to have more accountability for what they say,
Found On Athletic Clothing Brand. It’s So Refreshing To See The Representation
Awesome! let people see how folks their age would look like in advertised clothes. All ages. I don't want to see only how skinny 15yo would look in that.
Every time I see a green tracksuit, that’s what I think now too!

Both have had botox injections so they aren't aging as gracefully as you would like to think! I don't have a problem with them getting the injections but let's just be honest..... they have had work done due to the industry they are in. Not as much as others, but really.....
I dont think aging gracefully means not doing things to make yourself feel better . Botox isn't going under the knife and not exactly an uncommon thing. Anyone and everyone gets botox. Since Cameron Diaz quit acting like 7 yrs ago,iif shes gotten it, it's to make her self feel better. It's the same reason we wear makeup and botox is almost as common as makeup these days. These 2 look happy and comfortable in their own skin. Just my opinion.
Load More Replies...Diaz has had plastic surgery, nose job, Botox & fillers, which takes 2 seconds to search, so I don't know why the f**k she's on here.
I mean, these two have both had some serious plastic surgery, and are both wearing some heavy makeup here...
Bored Panda reached out to redditor Zaza9000, the head moderator of the r/Instagramreality subreddit, to get their take on social media use and photo-editing use during the pandemic.
According to the moderator, people are “most definitely seeking online entertainment like never before,” as many are still stuck working from home, as the Covid-19 pandemic continues. What’s more, lockdowns are returning in some form or another in some countries like Latvia and cities like Hobart in Australia. It’s natural that people isolating spend more time online and on their social media feeds.
Love This Model
She looks like she has a sense of humor, unlike every other model that's ever lived.
Try to pay a compliment without criticizing others. Not neccesary, especially when it's not true.

First Time I’ve Seen A Plus Size Model That Isn’t Hourglass And “Thicc.” Not To Mention Keeping The Stretch Marks In!
I'm always annoyed when they speak about diversion and show plus size models but they still have a perfect plus size body in a perfect shape! This is not diversity!
Exactly! Also, plus size models (mostly size 6, which isn't really plus size) with absolutely gorgeous faces. So, this gives the message that the modelling industry can forgive a few extra pounds, only as long as you have an exceptionally gorgeous face.

“Engagement platforms like Reddit, Twitter, and Tik-Tok are our era of modern renaissance where a lot of music, DIY, entertainment, self-rediscovery, and art is being produced,” the moderator told Bored Panda that despite some of the major drawbacks of the internet, it’s still a wonderful place to let your creativity loose.
We were also interested to get Zaza9000’s opinion about how the pandemic, the lockdowns, and the constant anxiety many people have been feeling has affected social media and whether there’s been an increase or a decrease in heavily photo-edited pics. However, the moderator believes that this isn’t such an easy question to answer.

why do we call old women "older women"? They are old. I am also old (67), not "older". Let us use normal language.
I can't wait to grow old. I wanna be a glamorous old lady with loads of cats and a dog.
I loved my Granny’s hands, it’s what I remember most vividly about her. The blue veins and her clean nails and her signet ring ❤️ older hands are beautiful
To The People On My Last Post Here That Said Cellulite Shouldn’t Be On Strong Legs
Cellulite is so common in women that is basically considered a secondary sexual characteristic of female bodies. I have no idea who decided to pretend that it is not normal. Also normal in men of course but less common
Women your cellulite bits are just part of your sexiness
Load More Replies...Look at those badass muscles! Now this is the athlete's body that I want to see-- not some Influencer taking a "gym selfie" showing of their fake thigh-gap.
My wife has little cellulite bumps and it's cute as f**k and obviously normal, why would I give it a second thought I'm not perfect and as a guy, she is gonna have to watch my balls get lower and lower over time until they are hitting my knees, yuck.
At which point in history, and why, a normal condition like cellulite was demonized is beyond me. The result, is, however, that anti-cellulite treatments have made many people/companies millionnaires. I personally know a woman who sold the house her father left her to have a six month anti-cellulite treatment that she saw in an ad. I don't know the result of her treatments, but the worst part is, that because she always felt so self-conscious of how she looked, she never allowed herself to enjoy basic pleasures, like a trip to the beach.
I'm an athlete and have cellulite - have ever since I was 15. I'm 37 now.
I Wish I Saw Models Like This When I Was Younger And Felt The Pressure To Have Hairless Arms
I'm 53 and you can't Imagen the s*** I get for having long hair. I tell them that it grows, no effort on my part.
Load More Replies...Wow I didn’t even realised what was “wrong” and needed to go back to read the title. I am glad that they showed it. How can people see body hair as unnatural? We are f*****g mammals
The whole 'must be hairless' thing has got way out of control. I'm glad I've reached the age where I no longer give a s**t about it. Occasionally I do and on those days, I will epilate or shave - but ONLY because I can't be bothered with other people (always women) staring at me. I was only checking out my own leg hair today, untouched since the start of lockdown 4.5 months ago! It's pretty gnarly, but it actually makes me laugh!
Load More Replies...Wow never had any problems or comments about my black arm hair, seriously. Are they supposed to be smooth or what?
My arm hair is lighter than how you describe yours but I totally understand what you are saying. Not once in my whole life has anyone ever said a word about arm hair. I mean I barely shave my legs, screw my arms. If someone thinks my arm hair is gross do I really want that person in my life?
Load More Replies...OMG YESS!! that was my all time enemy until I was 30! Show people true people, not dolls!
Me too, my dad is Syrian and my Mom is Irish I got light skin and dark hair.. lots of dark hair...
I was teased as a kid because of the dark hair on my arms. I never removed it and also stopped shaving my legs to protest this idea that women can't be hairy!
Thing is, arms aren’t hairless. It’s just that, on many people, the hair is fine and blonde, so you can’t really see it. It’s also not just blondes who have it. I had dark hair when I was born, and light brown hair as a child, but my arm hair was always blonde and pretty much invisible. Leg hair too, until puberty.
I had a boss who would shave her arms every day as an adult because her gym teacher in Jr high saw it and said it was gross. I have scicilian genetics and get very long black arm hair, I only shave if it gets too long and bushes up uncomfortably in long sleeves. I hoped my example of how to care for arm hair properly changed her mind about it. Her teacher was a sexist jerk.
There was an Indian girl in my high school who was breathtakingly gorgeous. She was made fun of for hair on her upper lip, arms and back but she didn't let it get to her and absolutely rocked those halter tops.
In the moderator’s opinion, there’s no clear-cut answer about the effect the lockdowns have had on our likelihood to (not) photo-edit our pics. It’s possible to see things in two different ways. “That's definitely a mixed question of yes and no,” they said.
“There has been a saying that everyone's been gaining the ‘Quarantine 15’ and that might encourage people to edit more,” the moderator shared their thoughts, referring to the idea that a lot of people have gained some weight when they switched to a more sedentary lifestyle due to Covid-19.
“At the same time, since we've all been home, self-care has been a hot topic,” they noted that some people have been becoming far more genuine and open about their real looks online. They added that they’d personally encourage people to follow this path.
Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
I hate this family, they lie cheat and steal a ton of design work from unknown Artist and didn't care people love them. I cannot stand One molecule of them. Fake and being Rich from their mom selling their bodies to the press and girls think this ..this is what I want I just need to look like them, and they are fake as the day is long. "Should be labeled like any other toxins" yes!

Yes!!! Feel like these are different girls just from the pics. Worse part is realising how damaged they are by their mums media hungry attitude...and how this is fuelling a whole generations mental health issues (for those whose own feelings of inadequacy cone from comparisons with "media" families)

The Power Of Make-Up
I could understand wearing a bit of makeup to make the skin look better but I will never get wearing this style of makeup. Eh… to each their own I guess
Because it's FUN. It's a form of artistic expression. I don't wear makeup every day, yet I still like to do dramatic looks once in a while for the sake of it, to change, to express myself, same way I dye and cut my hair or wear certain clothes. This isn't an every day look.
Load More Replies...Honestly, I think she's prettier WITHOUT the overdone make-up.To each their own. If someone is wearing make-up because it's fun, fine. But if they're doing it because they feel compelled to meet unrealistic beauty "norms", then NO!
This Insta-Girl Posts Pics On Both ”good” And ”bad” Days And Gives No F**k About It. I Love It
Good girl! That's how it should be. Give no fu*ks. She's still beautiful though, even on a "bad" day.
There are some of us who’d consider her bad day their best day.

Good for her - and she still looks very pretty without make-up. I'm so tired of seeing women with make-up so thick that makes me want to scrape it with a rubber spatula. 😂
She looks fine on the "bad" one. Jesus I wish I looked as fresh as her.
Earlier, Nuno Albuquerque, the Head of Treatment at the UK Addiction Treatment Group, went into detail with Bored Panda about social media addiction.
"A person can be addicted to anything, but they are only suffering an addiction if whatever it is they are 'using' has taken over their lives, and that they as individuals have lost the power of choice, i.e. that they cannot, regardless of how much they want to, stop 'using'. This is the effect that addiction has, it robs the individual of the ability to stop,” Nuno explained.
It’s Not Much, But I Saw This When Browsing One Of The Biggest Online Stores. First Thought It Was A Part Of The Earring But It’s A Hearing Device. The Little Things Matter!
As kids, I saw some kids wore bright, colourful hearing aids, while others wore hearing aids the colour of their hair to "hide" it. It's nice when we can be proud of deafness, but at the same time, people can be a bit patronising.
that is true, my daughter wears this and I prefer the hello kitty pink color as it's her favorite color, no intention to hide, moreover, bright colors is easier to find. having said that, cochlear technology, especially in my country is uncommon and some people still think deafness as a disgrace :(
Load More Replies...I've seen more and more assistive devices being shown in ads, both print and tv. It makes me happy that companies are more willing to show young people how they really are and it's giving young people a platform to say "hey! This is the real me!"
I got my hearing aids done in bright metallic red, because they look cool. There are also companies making bejeweled cover shells for hearing aids, making them look like a fashion accessory. No reason to hide them.
I have a port in my chest. I would love to see a model with a port or a port scar. I know exactly what you mean. I'm disabled, but I'm not ashamed that I need a port to manage day to day. In fact, it would make my life easier if they had disabled models because we could see how their clothes interact with medical devices. I hate ordering something and then having to send it back because it irritates my port.
Any professionally prescribed hearing aid is just way out of my budget.
Won’t bother me at all if my hearing aid shows. I’m ready for them now but they are very expensive. Hopefully I can get them in 2022. You really don’t realize how much you miss when u need them and don’t have them. Might look into those colorful ones. 👍🏻
And as someone who is legally hearing impaired & wears hearing aids... I find this completely offensive!! I lived me WHOLE childhood being made fun of for my over-the-ear-hearing-aids... that it took me about 20+ years to wears them again. DO NOT MAKE LIGHT OF A DISABILITY... IT WILL NOT END WELL!!
As A Person With A Lower Belly Area That Sticks Out All The Time, It's Really Refreshing To See My Body Shape On An Ad For Tights/Skirts!
That's our uterus. The uterus, people. Why be ashamed? That's so silly.. Oh, and yes, pockets!
Meh, haven't got one anymore, still with the belly! :-)

This looks like it's from Snag tights. They are fantastic with their models, and even use some of their customers as models for ads.
I’ve seen so many ads and commercials with these little tummy bulges. It’s so refreshing. And for those huge companies out there that sell clothing, I would ALWAYS buy from a company unafraid of using real models over the companies that put a stick figure up there. Bravo.
How Refreshing To Know You Don’t Have To Have A Bubble Butt
I have a butt like this but with a bloating tummy on the front. I often shop man's jeans. They have pockets! ps I look smashing :)
You look smashing AND you have proper pockets, living the dream!!!
Load More Replies...I remember when having a bubble butt was a bad thing. At least in The US.
Yeah I told a 19 year old friend of mine that years ago the butts that are envied today would have been considered, and called, fat. She was very surprised. Both standards are toxic but it's crazy to see how body shapes go in and out of style like clothes. It's ridiculous.
Load More Replies...I have more than enough butt for everybody - and I'm happy to share! Lol!
I used to have a bubble butt, since my teens. Menopause in my fifties blew me up like crazy. I’m 60 now, menopause is long over, my weight is back down to normal, but no more bubble butt. It’s like the bubble deflated. At least it happened slowly enough to adjust and not sag too badly. So basically, I had a bubble butt when flat butts were in fashion, and a flat butt when bubble butts are in fashion. Just my damn luck.
I feel like I should send this picture to all the women in my family. We are legendary for having flat as*es 😂
A friend of mine says she has no butt but her stomach stands out...she feels like somehow her body got put on backwards.
“Even if that individual is aware of the negative physical, psychological, or financial consequences, they still cannot stop. It is essential to not use the word 'addiction' flippantly; if a person is addicted, then they are in need of professional help and support," Nuno said that nobody should use the word ‘addiction’ without understanding the seriousness of the term.
Nuno from the UKAT Group told Bored Panda that the Covid-19 lockdowns made people spend far more time online and on social media than before.
Found This Model With Normal Teeth (Not Everyone Has Perfectly Aligned Teeth) In A Clothing Brand App
If you look at all the really famous supermodels, they all had a 'flaw' that wouldn't be left uncorrected today. Sometimes idiosyncrasies are beautiful!
Not only the alignment, but also the color! This is a normal color. Even more yellow would still be normal. Treating your teeth until they are snow white, is not even healthy
Thank you! As someone with very crooked teeth I have been made to feel ugly and other because everyone in the media has chiclet teeth. I don't hate my teeth myself, but I hate how others treat me because of it. It would be nice to be treated normally. (And for those who say "just get braces" some of us are not able to afford them and that is certainly the case here.)
Oh god, in the USA the teeth worship is ridiculous. People going $20k in debt to straighten and whiten their teeth.
the only thing that needs to be retouched in that photo is the t-shirt.
I Loved This Model I Found While Bikini Shopping!
Omg she has the same scars as me. Wow. I hide my stomach all the time, this is powerful. Really, I can't stop looking, I feel like I'm seeing my tummy inserted into a normal pic it's very odd. I still don't know if I'll ever have her confidence but I want to, a lot
You're a survivor, you can be proud of your body. :) I had to grow into my imperfections too, glad it got better the older I became.

sometimes ppl r afraid of being judged or questioned. i wore a tank top to the food store and kid saw one of my scars and shouted "mommy look the lady was shot in the back". i got a mole removed and the person dug too deep creating a scar that looks like a bullet wound and anytime it visible i get questioned by complete strangers. my right leg however it was obvious my scar was a shark bite. i couldnt go anywhere in shorts without being harassed about it. i have social anxiety i have since i was a kid so being harassed about scars i have make my life hell. i got extensive surgery to hide the shark bite scars but the removed mole scar and knee injury scars i still have those. kids r really the only ones who notice them. its just a pain cuz a kids mind will run wild and ill then get questioned by the parent just so they can calm their kid down. sometimes i dont even hear the kid. one person even can up to me once asking me to cover up bc my bullet wound is offensive and scaring her and her kids. i told her i got a mole removed bc it was cancerous i was never shot. she felt horrible for assuming i told her not to worry i get that reaction all the time but it still hurts. for such a small scar it causes me big attention
Load More Replies...I have the same scar too and this gave me chills. I cried I'm telling you. This helped me feel validated, like this is me and I don't have to hide my scar. Thank you for posting this, I am amazed and I feel so happy now.
I have little dented scars up and down my thighs and butt cheeks that unfortunately will never go away. I'm very VERY self conscious of them and do not wear shorts in summer time.. but this makes me feel a little better.
Good friend of mine has equal scars. I don't think their hideous. Her upper scar is from a life-saving OP, should be worn as proud as a medal!
She Never Edits Her Body And She Looks Amazing
Why should she? This needs improvement? How? That tiny ripple of tummy? If that is going to be an upsetting thing, then no young woman ever ever ever needs to have a baby!
"We would say that it is more than likely that society as a whole spent more time on social media and other internet-based platforms during the Covid-19 lockdowns than before, simply because for many, their normal day to day life was turned upside down, or even stopped altogether, and so a lot of people found they had more spare time on their hands,” he noted.
“Some people turned to social media during the lockdown to stay connected with others, which is really important and actually a healthy approach to take. Where it starts to negatively affect a person is when being on social media consumes them completely, and they no longer want to be present in their actual 'offline' day."
The Woman In The Picture Often Posts About How People Use Angles To Appear Skinnier And To Hide Cellulite/Skin Blemishes - Found On Her Instagram
I mean, ok, but don't we all, at a certain level? When I take a picture for myself (I'm not on socials) I try to look at my best. What's wrong with this, per se?

Nothing is wrong in waiting to look good for a picture. But that being your whole "truth" so called, is just not a good thing. I'm full figured, very. I'm also handicapped and use a rollator, ( walker with wheels) , I'm an honest 54, as in what you see is what you get. But what you don't see is more important, with everyone. Inside almost everyone is an even better version of themselves, because they love, fight their battles, are magnificently creative or whatever special gift God made them with.
Its the stupid expression on her face that that puts me off. Why pull faces?
Everyone wants to take a good picture. Just most people don’t edit them to look perfect. So nothing wrong with looking your best. Just look like you. That’s what makes a picture good

According to the mental health expert, every individual has a unique line separating normal behavior and addiction: it all depends on our unique circumstances and personalities. The essence of the question lies in whether or not the person still has the power of choice or if they’ve lost it.
"If the person cannot undertake their regular day to day routine without being on social media or needing to get back to being on social media, as in they have potentially developed not only a psychological desire to be online but also physical urges begin as well, then there could well be an addiction there," Nuno warned.

Normalize Having Organs
I don't think the belly is just organs. She has some fat, and that's what we should normalise. I mean... It is literally normal. She looks great
Couldn't agree more, this is a normal body. Seeing these fake huge butts everywhere is freaking me out.

Also normalize not having organs. People are always saying what a petite figure my daughter has but what they don’t know is she almost died and had to have her colon removed.
"An unhealthy relationship with social media could also be recognized if the individual develops mental health illness from being online, for example, feelings of anxiety or depression arising during or after being on social media. Similarly, for some people we have treated at our UK Addiction Treatment Centres, being on social media is a trigger for them to then misuse drugs or alcohol. During therapy, we address why a person drinks alcohol or misuses drugs, and for some, it is because of their unhealthy relationship with social media," the mental health expert went into detail.
This Is The First Time I've Seen A Jewelry Page That Doesn't Edit Out Knuckle Hair!

This is not really necessary. Editing out the hair on hands does not hair shame anyone. No one is being bullied for having hair on their knuckles. It's just an aesthetic to make the skin look smooth so you focus on the ring, which is what they are selling.
Well, not everyone's got knuckle hair.... I don't and I don't shave, it's just not there...

If marketing and advertising departments were smart they would realise that THIS is how you sell a product!

I would love to have my body look like hers. She looks so strong and healthy.
Another thing people don’t think about is that bodies that are basically the same size can have very different proportions. Think of clothing. You can take three different pairs of pants, all in your correct size, into the changing room. Maybe only one of the three will fit you properly. The other two are the right size, but are cut for difference proportions to yours.
This is a woman who has always taken good care of her health. That's what natural beauty thrives on.
"The most important piece of advice we can give is to be mindful and aware; check in with yourself during and after time spent on social media, ask yourself how do you feel? Can you now switch off and get on with your day? Any negative feelings or inability to move on from being online should be a red flag.”

Makeup Company Uses Model With Real-Life Skin
She looks lovely. That apart, acne is a medical condition that’s totally treatable and in fact should be properly treated to avoid pain and scarring.
This is a very good point. Acne is a medical condition and it IS treatable. Though I would add that it is not easily treatable. It takes time firstly to find the one that works for you and also for that product - be it pills or lotions etc - to have an impact. May also not work for 100% of people but you can usually get a significant improvement even if you can't get it totally under control. Never just put up with it - go to your doctor. Dalacin T lotion is the one that finally worked for me but it took quite a while to get there so be patient. 😀

Given how much the lipstick has extended onto skin and beyond the lips it is harder to see their natural features.

Acne is a hormonal condition. Some make up is not non-comedogenic and might cause or exacerbate a bit of a flair up but make up per se doesn't cause acne. There are may make up products that help soothe skin and are perfectly fine for acne prone skin.

Bad, bad makeup ad. Her skin does not need to look so greasy and shiny. A bit of powder would have made this look much better.
It's such a poor choice of words "real-life skin." Not everyone suffers from acne or bad skin. Doesn't mean their photos are edited either. I get the message, but poorly executed.
I think real-life skin is a good term for it. It's her skin she has in real life. It's skin that shows up in real life. I think using the word normal would be bad in this situation.

Just An Outdoor Clothing Company Using A Photo Of A Woman With A Real Stomach
Real stomach?? Let me show you my real stomach or my pooch as I call it😀
Considering that she is overall very slim, yes, that is a real stomach with some fat to cover the important female organs as nature intended. Compared to my (what I consider) normal body - which stomach, where? There is no stomach in this picture!
Load More Replies...I too wish I was this "honest".Even some of these "natural"poses would be hard to achieve for many of us earthlings.!
Sorry, but this woman is slender and fit....she doesn't have a "real" stomach
STOOOOP you don't .... really??! . What's your stand on stretch marks?
Load More Replies...This is how little progress we've made as a people: This tiny little pooch, which could be bloat caused by her eating pizza & drinking beer the night before, is considered a "real stomach." No. Standards are still way too high. Even this is skinny. I can show you a "real stomach"!
Mango - Refreshing To See Older Models With No Photoshop
I'm feeling mighty elderly with you all calling her 'older'! But I guess she is, compared to the newborn colt usual models.
Ok why is it older people modelling nearly always get described as “refreshing”?
Probably because it's a change from the models ages 15 to 21 you normally see.
Load More Replies...Love to see more younger models too. Thing is in 20-30 years time you look back on those photos and think "What the hell was I bothered about?!". I know myself looking back when I was on my mid teens, back then I thought I looked like a monster when I looked friggin great.
Absolutely Stunning

I have a whole herd of zebras, then. I had hormonal problems during puberty and gained ~20kg in a very short period of time (felt like over night). I suddenly looked like I tried to explode out of my own skin. Fortunately, these scars have meanwhile turned white, but they are everywhere: thighs, hips, breasts... Hormones can be a b!tch sometimes.

I once met a woman, a friend of a friend, and after we'd been chatting at lunch for a while, and I happened to look down and saw extensive burn scars on her legs. She was wearing shorts, not covering the scars, and I decided that the fact that she was brave to have lived through something horrific and that she wasn't ashamed of the scars made her a way cool person!
It's such a shame that society can make us feel ashamed after going through things that we should actually be proud of. Like surviving an accident or surgery or pregnancy and childbirth. It's so sad and a waste.

I get what y'all are saying, but for some people it's really not that simple. As someone who's lived without health insurance, I've spent my teenage years struggling with terrible cystic acne, it really affected my mental health and how I viewed myself. I spent years trying all manner of pills and creams, to no avail. I've finally found something that has gotten my acne down about 50%, and it's been working for my self esteem. The only real way to fix acne is if you have plenty of money and time for it. I will never judge someone for their acne cause I know how hard it is, and I think all these women with skin problems on here are very strong for showing that, cause I certainly wouldn't be able to.

I have psoriasis on most of my body but very bad on my legs and arms. For years I wouldn't wear tshirts or shorts because of the scarring and plaques. I already suffered from depression and this made it worse to the point of attempting suicide. After therapy I just said sod it and started wearing shorts and tshirts and guess what.....people weren't talking or pointing. Granted, the sod it moment took a lot of work and encouragement from friends and family but I'd now have no problem being on a nudest beach.
So now everything's beautiful? We're allowed to think otherwise, just no bullying

Our Bodies Change Over The Years, I Like How She Shows It
Wait, I'm not being a b!tch but shouldn't the text be the other way round?? NOT grieving the thin ideal ....
No, the text is correct. The journey to body neutrality/acceptance starts with giving up the thin ideal many people have been going after for a big part of their lives and it's so ingrained in their minds that giving up this idea of striving to be thin and everything that comes with it (acceptance by society, feeling better in their skin, basically "everything will be great once I'm skinny") that it can become grief over letting this ideal and their possible old thin self go. It's like "I will never become this happy thin person (again) that society made me feel I want to be" and letting go this "safe" way of thinking can be scary and hard.
Load More Replies...I used to be a size 8 UK and am now a size 14 UK, I am certainly going through a process of having to accept my bigger self and letting go of that thin ideal. You're not alone in the struggle. Keep on truckin <3
Load More Replies...No biggie. The first picture is basically the body we all had when we were teenagers, and had teenage metabolisms. The second picture just looks like she’s now a grown woman who is just a tad fuller, and maybe has had a baby (?). Her arms and legs are still the same size, and she looks terrific, to boot! Nothing to “mourn” here.
I was a size 3 in high school, I wear 16 or 18 now. Weightwise, I'm twice the woman I used to be! Lol, rather amusing to think of it that way!
The "now" looks better anyway, really not a fan of loads of make-up! We all know who's pushing the "you need a full face of make-up", and it's not most men... $$$$
Those of us whose pictures from youth consist of zitty school photos and family "snapshots" with closed eyes, red devil eyes and random weird facial expressions have a hard enough time adjusting to our saggy, crepe skin as we get older. The generation with nothing but retouched images will forget how they really looked and feel even worse.
My doctor agreed with me that, at my age, I should stop worrying about my weight. I told her that I had no desire to be a thin corpse. She simply nodded her head and wrote in her records as directed by me.
Normal Eyebrow Hair. Colour Of The Eyeshadow Isnt Enhanced And The Eye Has Normal Skin Creases
I really hate the eyebrow fashion these days. The same shape, too dark/too thick.
I actually hate that there needs to be a fashion even in the eyebrows! To some faces is better the thin ones and to other the thick!! Usually what's closest to your natural matches better to you face

Some people have been conditioned to believe that the 'flaws' [character] that develop as we age somehow reduces their worth as a human compared to younger people. This is the sort of thinking that results in plastic surgery that only makes people look like they've been cut up, and not actually look younger. Absolutely. When you expand your idea of what beauty is, you’re able to appreciate that it is nothing to do with the ideal of flawlessness.
