Remember the Seattle woman who unfortunately experienced ‘banking while Black?‘ Well, it turns out flying while Black is also an issue, as DC-based music executive Emmit Walker learned just 2 days ago. Thankfully, when a passenger on the same flight as him made racist comments upon seeing him in the ‘priority boarding’ line, he fired back with an absolutely perfect response.
Walker’s story is a sad reminder of the casual instances of racism Black people still encounter during everyday situations, but is also a triumphant example of what happens when the owners of that racism are called out and made a fool of in public.

People boasting their priority rights, especially at airports, have a questionable attitude anyway. Yes, you earn these perks because you fly too much and they are really useful if you do not just occasionally fly, but they should never be a reason to feel superior. In this case, I guess it might have been racism, but it might have been plain old judgemental behaviour "only". I myself have gotten angry looks and "What are you doing there?" questions in boarding queues. Turns out boarding group 2 (business class) needed to wait until I had boarded from group 1 (Star Alliance gold, irregardless of class) :D. And know what? Children and elderly could even go before – rightly! Or those people in suits that "coincidently" show their gold status hand baggage tags, casually peeking at your boarding pass with a arrogant grin, only to realize the guy in sneakers has a diamond card. Hillarious! Status is nothing, respect is everything. Especially in condensed airport and plane situations.
I don't get what's all the hurry for. I mean, you got there in time, everyone payed for a seat, the airplane will not depart without you at this point. In fact, I experienced flights departing way late because they were waiting for one single customer to solve their passport related problems.
Hans - I always pay for my ticket - I almost never fly, and like first class. I'm a short white woman with money. I like the way I get treated in first class, the food is better and the seats are nicer. I can afford it. I'm not better than you or anyone else. I'm just an old lady who's worked hard to get get where she is.
The disabled who may need help getting down the boarding ramp too. We get on before EVERYONE!

Yeah....my husband has already flown over half a million miles this year, and he's been doing that for the last 28 years or so. The airline he uses makes millions of dollars from him every year. They treat him (and his colleagues) well. .... Instead of whining about having to board later, all you have to do is get on airplanes up to four times a week for 20 years or so, work 60-75 hour weeks and only see your family on weekends. Until then, you can shut up about it.
To be honest I hope that she does find out that this happened to her. That she should be ashamed of what she did. But, even though her actions are terrible. I hope she would still get a chance to make amends without finding later on that she is constantly trolled, stalked or continuously shamed online. All to often a moment of "stupid" gets blown up online and people's lives are ruined. Either online or with real life events. She seems really stuck up so I can't really see how this could be anything other than stupid or racist, but you never know what was going on in their head when they make a scene like this. If there is one thing I have learned in my years of flying. Airports seem to bring out the worst in people, seem to attract the most self-absorbed people, and some of the best people with the best stories I have ever talked to. I just wish more of us talked with each other instead of staring at our phones the entire time.
And..... did you check if everything is real? All we saw is a pick of him w some bm on top of the woman, no pics of the woman being rude, the crowd clapping or w/e? Tried to look up and everywhere else all has the same pic? So now if I takes a picture of a woman and say she raped me would you believed it? I think military personnel often get discounted tickets or bumped up as a way by the airlines to thank them for their service and that's what she was referring to. not that the US military would pay to fly its personnel first class.
I’m prior service and our “discounted tickets” were often more than regular tickets. Too, when I was boarding in civvies and boarding Priority 1, the dirty looks I would get and the people telling me they weren’t “boarding for me yet” was appalling. It was especially awful when I’d have my little boy with me. Elitists and classists are just exceptional assholes.
Really. If they could get us in cargo the probably would 🤦🏾♀️ I’ve only been in priority about 4 times and I was bored. So honestly I need to sit where the action is😂😂😂
