Home Depot is selling this pineapple plant that will make you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation

This beautiful plant is part of the bromeliad family, native to tropical locations, but also thriving indoors. All you’ll need is to find a sunny spot for it, as it needs approximately 6 hours of sunlight each day. Also, it needs watering once a week, unless the soil does not hold water well. In that case, you’d need to water the pineapple twice a week.

Many people are keeping this gorgeous guy inside during the cold months and moving it outside as soon as it gets warmer out, although it may be necessary to water more the pineapple more frequently while it’s there, especially if it’s flowering or bearing fruit.

you can easily grow your own plant... cut the top off of a pineapple, set it in a dish of water in a sunny window... the remaining pulp will rot away and roots will grow out of the thick core... transplant into potting soil, set outside, water frequently until it makes new leaves... when it gets big enough, you will have to trick it into setting fruit by using a trash bag & placing a rotting apple inside the bagged plant... good luck.. p.s.. not hardy, do not let freeze outside, bring in & place in sunny window
My father in law lives in Florida and has done this with pineapples and coconuts!!

jknbt is right, you can grow your own from a store bought food pineapple. We grew one at school. It even had a pineapple grow on it. Then the fire marshal made us get rid of it.
