We’re about to make your day and probably your week. Puddle of Mudd’s cover of Nirvana’s song About A Girl is going viral on the net, all because of the way that vocalist Wes Scantlin sang the song.

Have a listen—it’s… a wild ride. You know how some things are so bad they’re good? I think this is one of those times. I’ve been listening to Puddle of Mudd’s version of the song for over an hour on repeat and there’s a huge smile on my face.

Meanwhile, the internet reacted less kindly. People made fun of Scantlin’s voice, joked about Kurt Cobain rolling in his grave, and some even made comparisons that the singer’s hitting notes like he’s sitting on the toilet. Have a listen to the song and decide for yourselves, dear Pandas. Do you love it? Hate it? Let us know in the comments below.

Puddle of Mudd was formed back in 1999, in Kansas City. They’ve sold more than 7 million albums and even had a bunch of mainstream rock songs sitting at the Number 1 spot in the US in the past. The band’s first album, Come Clean, came out in 2001, launched its popularity, and led them to do a European and American tour together with Linkin Park among others.

“Sometimes in life, you come across people who want to bring you down and rip apart your soul. Well, those days are gone,” Scantlin said when talking about their sixth studio album Welcome to Galvania. “I have surrounded myself with a great team of people. They believe in me and I believe in them.” Let’s hope that Scantlin kept his optimism even after seeing the internet’s latest reaction to his voice.

The Nirvana cover isn’t the only time that the band has caused controversy. For instance, Scantlin has been accused of lip-syncing during live performances on numerous occasions since 2012.

In 2014, he had a meltdown on the stage in Dallas, threw a microphone and beer into the audience and threatened his fans. He’d been criticized for appearing to have been lip-syncing during that particular performance.

Lip-syncing seems to be a common theme with Scantlin: in 2015, the band was booed off the stage in Versailles, Ohio because of this. In fact, the backlash was so big that the band temporarily deleted their Facebook page.

Some people were ruthless with their comments
