Anti-Abortion Advocate Uses Baby’s Picture To Emotionally Manipulate People, Gets Destroyed With Facts
Abortion has been an emotionally-charged and divisive topic for many years and shows no signs of letting up. Central to the argument for many people is pinpointing the exact time when ‘life’ begins. Is it at conception? The first heartbeat? Brain activity? Or when the baby actually emerges from the womb?
Religion plays a large part in the debate, with people of various beliefs having different opinions on the matter. The truth is that nobody really knows, and this lack of a concrete definition coupled with the broad ethical questions that raised by abortion means that the controversy is likely to rage far into the future.
The latest example to get people talking comes from the subreddit MurderedByWords, which showed an informative and withering putdown to a meme originally shared on the Facebook page ‘Life Begins at Conception.’ The page, making its own view on the argument abundantly clear, shared a picture of a smiling baby next to the words: “If You’re Pronounced Dead When Your Heart Stops Beating, Why Aren’t You Pronounced Alive When Your Heart Starts Beating?” At first glance, you might think that this makes perfect sense. However, this response had another view and set it out in a clear and concise manner.
And, of course, there are certain tragic circumstances when an abortion is just the only thing to do, regardless of where you stand. Does somebody who has suffered enough need to see constant reminders about the horrors of a miscarriage and unwanted abortion?
The post started a lively discussion on the MurderedByWords subreddit, with people pointing out the irony of the post
While others continued the discussion about pro-life and pro-choice, sharing facts, opinions and some heartbreaking personal experiences with abortion
Now, we know that facts and ‘putdowns’ are unlikely to change anyone’s minds on this most emotionally-driven of topics. Everyone has different moral standards, and it is ultimately those which determine where you stand on the pro-life/pro-choice spectrum. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!

Load More Replies...I've read and heard plenty of stories of women who have had an abortion and can I just say one thing that stood out to me. All of them did it for the sake of the child. All of them thought it was best for the child. Sorry I just needed to get that of my chest. Thanks.
I've read a heartbreaking story of a woman who wasn't wanted by her mother. And then I read some more of those. How it affected them every day, how much they suffered and wished they'd never been born to have to live this. It was then when I fully realized that it really can be the best choice for the potential mother and the potential child. Because being born unwanted will likely damage you forever and what's the point in that? (Just to make sure - I've always been pro-choice, I just also always thought that it should be the last resort and not just because "you don't want the child at that moment".)
Load More Replies...I would never get an abortion, but just because I wouldn't doesn't mean I have the right to take that away from someone else who does.
The essence of the pro-choice position. The antis would have you believe that pro-choice is pro-abortion. It isn't. Choice means nothing less or more than choice. Having the safe and legal option should you so choose.
Load More Replies...I have (had) many friends (Mostly married couples) that say abortion is not an option, but adoption is. I ask them how many kids have they adopted. Some of them have unfriended me, and I'm fine with that.
In the US the adoption process is a nightmare designed more to line the pockets of lawyers than to find homes for children.

Please, be a foster care or adoptive parent to an older child, work at the crisis centers for domestic violence, donate to food organizations, work in a shelter or a soup kitchen and see how many children are living in poverty and with hunger. Please, THESE are the children who need you!!! I had a miscarriage at 21 and was told that I couldn't carry a child, so my life has been about other people's children who are in need of love and kindness. I've had many, many "adopted" children in my life, and I am glad that this is the purpose that was chosen for me.
|I do not believe that just because you're opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed. And why would I think that you don't? Because you don't want any tax money to go there. That's not pro-life. That's pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is." ~ Sister Joan Chittister
If the child is killed before birth they will never need to be fed. If the child is never given a shot at life then they won't need that education. If the child never leaves the womb alive they won't need a house. And what do you think is worse, not getting an education or never even being given the chance to see this beautiful, glorious if messed up, world? Without the children being born there will never be a need for those other things, So yes, they are concerned with those issues but you must start somewhere and LIFE is the most basic of those things and most important. Being 'pro-birth' as it is put IS pro-life because only if they are BORN are those things needed, if they aren't even given a basic chance at life then those other things never going to neccessary.

Seventeen years ago, I had an emergency c-section, or what THEY were calling a "second trimester miscarriage" to remove my 24-weeker that had developed a terminal infection that, along with uncontrollable bleeding, was killing me. The only way to save my life was to remove my daughter. (I was married with a 15 month old to give you some background info.) I was, in actuality, just shy of 24 weeks but knew that 24 weeks was the threshold for viability. In other words, they weren't going to save my daughter's life unless I lied and said I was further along than I was. I had to do that because some bureaucracy decidevviability numbetnumber for viability while not taking into account medical advancements and a mother's downright stubbornness for her daughters survival.
Sorry the end of that post was misspelled or duplicated. My screen wouldn't show me what I was typing and I went all Hell's Bells. What I am trying to get across is that, go with your gut when you're in the situation, otherwise STAY THE HELL OUT OF IT! My beautiful daughter is now 17 years old. As a NICU baby, she/ we endured many, many setbacks, but her life was and is worth fighting for. Your stance on abortion is your own and believe it or not, I am pro-choice. A woman's body is her own (example of rape) and it should be her decision up and until the point of viability. But, Science still questions that point. I believe we have been graced with consciousness, morals, and individuality but practice them so infrequently that when we do, we question ourselves.

The core of libertarian belief is fewer laws and more personal freedom, so banning anything, especially something as basic as a woman's right to her own body, is wholly un-libertarian. Thank you for listening to my PSA, I'm tired of being lumped into the conservative basket.

Everyone deserves a chance at life even if their parents cant or don't want to take care of them. Unless it's a medical emergency I see no good reason for abortion. Even in the so often talked about case of a woman who was raped. If I was raped I couldnt raise that kid knowing who its father was but they deserve a chance to have a good life and to be taken care of by someone who cares about them and loves them.
Exactly, the problem is that so many people see life as a burden, they think they are helping the baby by killing it. Life is a privilige and everyone deserves a chance. Some of the greatest people have come from the most broken backrounds.

Wow...this post is ancient. I remember reblogging it years ago. Still very true though.
Abortion will never be made illegal again. They know that it will still happen, but not regulated-women will die. Not to mention abortion makes money. I don't think people should be getting abortions all the time-as there are ways to prevent pregnancy-but when there's rape, women who could die from giving birth (I'm a high risk, so my husband got a vasectomy to prevent pregnancy) it's never going to go away. I don't understand why it's still even an issue. Legal abortion isn't going anywhere.
The question though is how do you prove someone’s motivations? The answer is that you can’t. Pre viability abortion has to be legal for everyone if it is going to be legal at all.
