yep, people playing outside, together, talking to strangers in parks or in the street instead of staying on the couch...yep totally controlled. What if you let people do what they want? (but I suppose it was the point of this clickbait?)

Couldn't agree more! I don't generally go out much, cos I feel that I don't have a reason to (kind of pathetic I know!) but in this nice sunny weather it's been really nice to get out and about, and even though I've mostly been playing it on my own, I've met quite a few new people, who I wouldn't have met had I stayed at home alone. I was talking to a guy I met at a Pokegym and he was saying how much it had helped him get out of the house, as he has anxiety, but the need to catch more Pokemon was forcing him to go out of the house! I think as long as you're sensible about it, and play it safely, then it can be really good. I'm just dreading the time when summer is over and it's too cold/wet for me to go out and about in my wheelchair, I won't be able to catch many Pokemon or hatch many eggs then :(

I went with my daughter to collect poke balls and pokemon and really enjoyed it. We conversated and worked together, though I don't play. We were spending quality time together no different but actually better than like watching TV or playing on a computer. I also observed over the weekend at one of our peak poke-spots where people of different ages, races, and I am sure they were different religions as well, were camped out with chairs and coolers and of course thier phones. My observations were everyone was socializing, comparing pokemon, laughing, startagizing together, and just having a grand time. Compared to what people could be doing, think it is great! It also takes minds off of what we cannot control going on in today's world in my opinion.

Thank you! At least someone who is trying, looking, and analysing before judging and hating! :)

Technophobes think this game is bad. Kids outside enjoying the summer is a GOOD thing. Must adults gripe about Everything?

This game is great, I just think that if you're playing the game you still need to be aware of what is happening around you, and play the game at the right time.

I feel like most of thr people bashing this art are Pokémon go players that feel offended because this artwork criticizes you. I never played it never had any interest but I think the message he/she is trying to get across is how obsessively consumed so many users are, the socializing and getting out the house are superficial and aren't creating a lifestyle of getting out meeting new ppl, it's a fad. Just like with any piece of tech it's a double edge sword where some ppl will become obsessed and in more extreme cases than Pokémon go use tech for destruction. It's a trap to just blindly accept technology because as much greatness as it brings is usually an equal amount of horror. For example and a little off topic the industrial revolution was/is considered one of the greatest triumphs of mankind but at the same time its the leading cause to the destruction of our environment and ultimately ourselves.

It is not pokemon go itself but mobile phones in general. It says a lot about our modern society that the only thing which makes us leave our homes is a phone app. I constantly see people on their phones and even before the game came out. The game itself is fun and I additionally hate how such a positive and fun app must immediately be turned into a negative influence in the eyes of the media. Its a fcking pokemon game for crying out loud why are you naking headlines about it?!

all I've seen are people walking around aimlessly, staring at their phones in the cemetery (where I used to go to try and get away from people) and people driving around and stopping on a dime in the most ridiculous of places to catch imaginary creatures.

then again, it's just as ridiculous as watching TV all day (like we've been doing since the 1950s).

Yes, I agree with the artist. This is a brilliant idea for interactive media, but it is also brilliant to track people, invade their privacy and mind control them not to care.

I love how nowadays getting up off your butt and walking around is now considered some kind of accomplishment.

indeed it isn't...but getting people people to gain some (real) social interaction, getting outside more than they did is some improvement. Not an accomplishment.
