I Spent A Month Photographing Different Sisters Every Day, And Here’s The Result (30 Pics)
I challenged myself to photograph 30 different sisters in 30 days! I wanted to document the bond between sisters. I wanted to show the similarities and differences sisters can have, physically and in their personalities.
I documented the relationship between all the different sisters and here's what is clear... They say that blood is thicker than water, and there is no bond quite like the one between sisters. From the time they are born, they share everything: their parents' love, their genes, their bedroom. They grow up sharing secrets, dreams, vacations, laughter, and tears. They are each other's confidantes and partners in crime. No matter what happens, they know that they can always rely on each other. They may fight like cats and dogs at times, but in the end, their bond is unbreakable. Because they are sisters. And that's what sisters do. They love each other unconditionally, through good times and bad. They are there for each other, no matter what. And that's what makes the bond between sisters so special. It's irreplaceable.
You can see each of the sisters' stories on my Instagram account. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

The colors in this one are so beautiful! And these sisters are gorgeous. Their eyes (especially the older one's) are so expressive. I wish I were this photogenic...
Inseparable sisters are the best. They love each other unconditionally and are always there for a cuddle or a giggle. These 2 might be little and 3 years apart, but they are great at causing trouble together! Whether they're being naughty or just being cute, they're definitely a force to be reckoned with. It's so precious to watch them grow up together and create lasting memories.
My journey of photographing 30 different sisters over 30 days was birthed from my love for learning and challenging myself. I wanted to delve into the stories that lay behind the relationships of sisters, to uncover the thread that ties them together. The project, a leap into the unknown, would eventually prove to be as rewarding as it was challenging.
The best thing about having a sister is always having a pillow available.
Essen and Willow are the perfect pair. One is serious and observant, while the other is silly and adventurous. But they share a love of music and creativity, and that's what brings them together. They enjoy signing and dancing together, and often put on their own little musical performances. It's clear that they are partners in every sense of the word. Their bond is strong, and it's beautiful to see how they bring out the best in each other. They are truly two sisters who are so different, yet so perfect for each other.
These sisters always seem to be at odds with each other. One is super outgoing and bubbly, while the other is more mature and reserved. But despite their differences, the love between them continues to grow stronger. It's hard to believe that these two sisters could be any more different from each other. But somehow, they complement each other perfectly and make each other complete. So can you guess which sister is which?
As I ventured from one family to another, I was welcomed into an array of unique stories. Each family, every pair of sisters, brought their own experiences and stories to the canvas. The richness of these interactions was not confined to the families themselves; my audience on social media became an integral part of this journey. I'd present them with two images of each pair of sisters and let them pick their favorite. The engagement I received was astounding. Their involvement brought a new dimension to this journey, making it even more memorable.
For Eden, Isla and Aubree, the sister bond is as strong as ever! Eden may have a different mother than her sisters, but they are all incredibly close. They love spending time together and always have fun running after the chickens on their property. Aubree may be the reserved one, but she also has a goofy side. Isla is strong and independent, but also cloves to have fun. Eden is the spicy one who doesn't take c**p from anyone! They might squabble sometimes, but they are stuck together and wouldn't have it any other way!
The backlight is so lovely! And they have stunning eyes. I would love to get to know them.
It's amazing how strong and tough these girls are. They are only 15 months apart, but they have been through so much together. They were both diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 6, but they both grew out of it by the time they were 8. However, they both started having seizures again when they were I1. The youngest, Jerzee, may be the younger sister, but emotionally she is the older one. She has taken on the role of protector and caretaker for her sister Jaelynn. You can feel the love and strength between them. No matter what life throws at them, they always manage to come out on top.
The challenge was not just in capturing the images, but also in highlighting both the similarities and differences between the sisters. Aided by the inputs from the parents and the sisters themselves, I carefully chose their attires and poses. Each photo was a testament to their unique styles and personalities, while also reflecting their similarities.
Yellow tee is holding in a laugh; white tee is in on it and pink tee thinks they’re being silly. Or not.
These three sisters are always laughing and joking together, and you can tell they truly love each other. They love to play slot machines in Vegas and go on annual trips to Florida together. These three sisters have a lot of love for each other. Whether they're traveling or just hanging out, they always seem to be having a great time. It's clear that they're truly enjoying each other's company. And that's what makes them so special
The older sister looks so kind and loving. She seems like a great person for the little sister to grow up with.
Special bond when you're far apart in age like this. My little brother is 12 years younger than me and when he was born, my heart was immediately stolen
As the project progressed, an unexpected theme surfaced – an unbreakable “bond”. It was the foundation of all relationships I photographed, an underlying theme that transcended their differences. Regardless of the differences, the sisters communicated their bond with profound clarity.
Reflecting on this project, I realize how much it deepened my understanding of the bond between sisters. The bond that exists between sisters was evident in every photograph, in every story. Regardless of age, all sisters shared a profound commitment to each other, expressing that they would do anything for one another. This project was not just about capturing images; it was a journey into the essence of sisterhood, an exploration of a bond that is both intricate and strong.
They can really pull the red lipstick too!!

As little girls, they looked so similar that their parents had to flip a coin to decide on different coloured earrings to help tell them apart. Jessica got red/pink, and Colleen got blue/ green. To this day, the ladies continue to wear clothes and jewelry that play to these colour-schemes. They consider each other best friends and can cook and canoe smoothly together without the need for words.
Different as night and day, but somehow still the same. Great pic.
One of my favorite of the project ❤️
Load More Replies...These sisters are 6 and 3.5 years old, and as different as night and day in looks and interests. But despite their differences, they share a bond as thick as they come. They're fun-loving and always up for a good time, whether they're playing together or just sitting next to each other chatting away. And they're almost never seen without each other - they're truly inseparable. They even look out for each other, with the older sister always quick to protect her younger sister from anything that might hurt her. It's clear that these two sisters have a special bond that will last a lifetime.
Madelyn is the eldest and she is very creative. She has always been the comic relief of the family. Lillian, the second sister, is very dedicated and responsible. She is always up for new adventures and will try almost anything. Emmeline, the third sister, is rebellious and inquisitive. She is also the extravert of our family. The youngest, Julia, is shy but she is also very compassionate. Although she is shy in public, she holds her own against her sisters at home! Even though we are all very different, they have a strong bond because they love each other unconditionally.
I was thinking of this too 😅 total girlpower
Load More Replies...Even though Olivia and Kayla are different in many ways, they love each other deeply and always have a great time playing together. Olivia is the outgoing one, always running around and being silly. In contrast, Kayla is more reserved and loves to read. But even with their differences, they seem to balance each other out perfectly. They both adore spending time together, and it's clear that they are two of the most important people in each other's lives. No matter what happens, they will always be there for each other - because that's what sisters are for.
They look like they take turns being each other’s best friend.
Their parents call them the value pack. Most people don't think they are related. With the same parents they ended up with complete different features: Chevelle is a red head with green eyes. Scarlett has brown hair with brown eyes. Sienna has blonde hair with blue eyes. Although they also have very different personalities, they compliment each other. Together, they are the three musketeers. They love spending time together, whether it's exploring the outdoors or just lounging around at home. They may be different, but they love each other unconditionally and always have each other's backs.
Bonds come in all shapes and sizes. For some, it's the bond between a mother and child. For others, it's the bond between two friends. In the case of these two sisters, it's the bond between two sisters who are 10 years apart. One might think that there wouldn't be much in common between them, but they share a very special bond. They love and trust each other unconditionally, and they are grateful for the bond they have. It's a bond that has been forged through time, and it's one that will never be broken.
These two sisters always butted heads growing up. If Jenny said the sky was blue, Katie would say it was green just to spite her. As they've grown, they have gotten much closer and have bonded over their love for dogs, although they have always said they were total opposite of each other. Even though they love each other to the moon and back, they are always ready with a witty comment or comeback when the other says something they don't agree with. It's all in good fun though, and at the end of the day, they know that they will always have each other's backs. And hey! What's the point of having a sister if you can't tease them once in a while?
I noticed they looked unusual but I would never comment on another person's appearance. "Between impulse and action, there is a realm of good taste begging for your acquaintance."

Load More Replies...Chantal and Nicole have always been close. As sisters that are only a year and nine days apart, they have shared a lot of memories together. They argue like any siblings would, but they know that at the end of the day they love each other. One of Chantal's favourite things to do is to prank Nicole! Even though Nicole usually falls for it, she always knows that it's all in good fun. They've travelled together and created even more great memories. They both know that no matter what happens in life, they will always be there for each other.
Erica and Lacey are two sisters who are very close to each other. They are both creative but in different ways. Erica is a hard core hip hop dancer while Lacey is a graceful contemporary dancer. They love and support each other's talents. Erica is creative as a makeup artist and Lacey is creative with her writing and just published her first children's book! They are each others' number one fan and they are always there for one another...
Are these beautiful girls twins? Their soulful faces carry so much resemblance, yet individuality.

I love children that don't smile in photos... I don't know why I just do...
Load More Replies...Being only four years apart, both born on February 17th, these sisters haven't always been close. They spent their childhood hating each other, but as they got older, the learned to value their relationship. They played on the same hockey team. They were there for each other when they moved into their college dorms and first houses. And when one sister needed a prom dress, the other was happy to share hers. That's the kind of bond that sisters have. A bond that is built on trust and shared experiences. A bond that makes them protectors of each other's heart.
Lennon and Halston are complete opposites. Halston is fierce and doesn't let anyone boss her around. Even though she is the youngest of four siblings, she is definitely the one in charge. Lennon is a go-with-the-flow kind of kid. Even though she has a twin brother, her bond with her baby sister is much stronger than with her brother. Lennon's calm and nurturing side really compliments Halston's wild and carefree spirit.
Based on your description of them, this picture is absolutely perfect!
Load More Replies...Yes! These 2 have an interesting story. The first daughter was given out to adoption when the mother had her at 16 years old. The sisters connected for the first time 20 years ago and have been inseparable since.
Load More Replies...When you love someone, it's hard to imagine life without them. For these sisters who only met 20 years ago, they know this feeling all too well. Their mom was only 16 when she decided to give her first child up for adoption. Thankfully, they were able to find each other and now they can't imagine their lives without one another. They have 5 kids between them and feel so lucky to be able to share their lives together. Each day, they are reminded of how grateful they are to have found one another and to be able to experience the love and joy that comes with being sisters.
Adventure. love. fun. Those three words perfectly describe the bond between these 2 sisters, Reese and Adelaide. They are both IVF miracles. Reese has always been the quiet protector of her little sister, and Adelaide is a little firecracker but she would defend Reese to the end. They are always coming up with new adventures to go on and they have so much fun together. Their special bond is a source of strength and happiness for them, and it's something they will cherish forever.
Big sister is a proud protector & Little sister knows it, but she's a proud protector too 🌸💗🌿
Jess and Mel are lrish twins, meaning they were born within a year of each other. They are 11 months apart and in July, they are the same age! They have been best friends for most of their lives, minus their teenage years when they each others arch nemesis. This changed when they started going to parties together, shared friends and secrets. They talk all day, everyday, starting with their "good morning text. They are the first person they tell everything to, to the annoyance of their husbands. They are now business partners and they couldn't imagine living without each other.
Heidi and Heather have always been close, but in recent years their bond has only grown stronger. 2 years ago, they decided to start a small crafting business called Seasonal Sisters. The business was a way for them to spend more time together, and it quickly became one of their favourite things to do. Every time they get together, they have so much fun. It's not about the money for them; it's about the time they get to spend together. Their bond is unbreakable, and they love each other more than anything in the world.
Alondra and Riqui are two sisters who are as different as night and day. They both grew up dancing, but while Alondra is a dancer and dance teacher, Riqui is an environmental biologist. They love each other dearly, but they also fight like cats and dogs. However, they are each other's best supporters. Both women are just starting to find their way into their own lives and, for the first time, they are doing it apart from one another. Even though they are on different paths, they always find their way back to each other. They may be different as night and day, but they will always be sisters.
As these two sisters have gotten older, they have formed a strong bond with one another. They have been through so many hardships together, including major health complications, but they have always stuck by each other's side. Through it all, their love for each other has only grown stronger. They are both in good health now and are working on rebuilding their lives, and aiming for positive mindsets after their hardships.
Was hoping to see a little more color in this if you know what I mean......
Same... but where I currently live, the demographic is very Caucasian. Had I done this project in the city I moved from it would have been mostly Asian ☺️

Sonia and Amita have been best friends since they were children. They have numerous inside jokes and stories, and they love spending time together. They used to joke about being the 'country mouse and the city mouse', which turned out to be pretty accurate with Amit now living on a farm outside Port Perry. They have 5 kids between them, and they love seeing the cousins hanging out and continuing on that love. Their friendship is special because they understand each other in a way that nobody else does. They may not live in the same town anymore, but their bond is stronger than ever.
These sisters are 21 months apart, and they couldn't be more different! The oldest has wild curly hair and a heart of gold. She's a tomboy at heart and a social butterfly. Her sister is autistic and very shy, but she loves fashion, dancing, and always looking her best. Their bond is very strong, and their love for each other is even stronger. Their father passed away in 2020, and this tragedy has only made their bond stronger. Through thick and thin, these sisters will always stand by each other. They are a true testament to the power of sisterly love.
As a mother of 2 girls, I think these are lovely :) I never had a sister and love to marvel at the bond my 2 share. They were each other's rock during the covid lockdown. I honestly think they kept each other from losing it.
Hi Amy! I can totally relate! Although I have a boy and a girl, I'm glad they had each other during the lockdowns... so were they! Thanks for sharing
Load More Replies...These photos are beautiful! I have always wanted a sister and these make me more envious (I have two brothers and I’m a middle child- I often get ambushed by nerf guns and video game talk)
I've got two older sisters and two younger brothers, my twin daughters have an older stepsister: I can tell you, you always wish for what you don't have! And getting ambushed by nerf guns is not tied to boys or girls!
Load More Replies...These are all lovely photos and what I'm about to say is just an observation and not an attack. The digital makeup added in post to some of the children's eyes is sort of...too much, I think. I have blonde eyelashes so I know how that can wash the eyes right off of a face but I just think the digital eyeliner used to touch some of these up is just a bit too dark. That's all. Overall fantastic. I love the concept. It just really jumped out at me, that's all.
I'm so sorry for your loss and appreciate your faith in her continuing happiness.
Load More Replies...Aww this makes me miss my sister alot. I try not to think about that she left our family. But at moments like this it hits again xD
Love this. But I wish I had grey or blue eyes - so many of these sisters have stunning eyes.
Brown or green or black eyed people are also stunningly beautiful 😚 I have blue eyes and I always wanted brown or black 😅
Load More Replies...Each one is so beautiful, I couldnt make out is its actual photo or edited, painted, enhanced.
Ahh, I wish I had even a tiny portion of the bond that these sisters clearly share with each other. My sister is, unfortunately, my second-biggest abuser in my life (my mother is the biggest). I’m adopted, but my sister is my parents’ biological child. You can probably extrapolate our very-different childhoods just from that XD I used to dream about having a bond with my sister like this. You have captured their essences very well!
I am so sorry you had to be gone through this :( it made me sad really, but also you made me think a bit. I have a half brother from my father's second marriage and I refused him for a long time. Now I am an adult and I do care for him but I will never forgive myself for making him feel bad or abandoned. :( I hope one day you gonna have a friend who is like a sister to you ❤️
