It is normal to discuss salaries. I am an employer, had some interviews as I hired three people (small office). While I liked their enthusiasm and their willingness to work with me, I always told them the net salary at the interview. It isn't fair to find out your salary only after working for a month there.

I'd like a gameshow type deal where a bunch of folks from different countries try the job applications from around the world.

Would really hate not getting a job because my ekans experience is too weak. Better level that one up...

I work in a machine shop and the people who interview appliquant don't even know how to power up our machines. It's like asking the guy who cleans the CEO's office to hire a pilot for their corporate jet... I got turned down for a team leader position by a HR clerk who thought I wasn't realy looking for a leading job. She gave that posting to someone who never was a machinist, can't even name most of our equipment and certainly don't know how to operate any machines we have. Know that at that time, I already had over 25 years experience and was frequently asked to help fix production issues by nearly every body, no matter what work shift they were on. That same HR woman was only seen on the shop floor on causual fridays wearing thight pants that showed a full camel toe. That doesn't help me having respect for that department.

According to my annual evaluations, I am the most efficient employee in my team (my manager wants to promote me). I am severely underpaid, not only for the work I provide but also compared to my colleagues. I asked for a raise and they denied, saying that I should be happy I have a job at this day and age, so I decided to underwork so it matches my salary. I'm still and by far the most efficient employee T.T

Speaking as someone who once worked in admin at a recruitment agency, avoid recruiters like they're coming at you wearing a suit of flaming bees. They give ZERO f***s about you, and keep people holding out hope they'll get jobs that don't even exist. I have so many horror stories.

People praise me for working at a homeless shelter. I work there because I don't want to live there.

Well I would have had 9. I started programming when I was 11. More difficult if you are counting employment, as like most people I graduated at 21.

I honestly learned to not casre about this. You don't come back with feedback in 5 working days, I move on. I had cases where the feedback came after about 3 weeks saying ok you made to the next stage. And I was like do I know you? Don't take c**p folks.

I worked as dispatcher for a trucking company and when we booked loads they emailed them to us so we could print them out to sign then fax them back. I always wondered if there was an easier way to do it...

I only use Linkedin to keep in touch with peoplewhom I know and who either don't use Facebook at all or who want a more serious and non-controversial Forum/Means to make contact. I have never used it for job-seeking and at age 68 I am highly unlikely to do so.

Okay, but this is good advice. A lot of that s**t in job ads is aspirational on the part of the person who wrote it, there are some 'musts' they'll forget they even wrote. Especially recruitment agencies.
