71 Screenshots That Prove Some People Should Really Sleep On A Message Before Sending It
Let’s be real: we’ve all taken screenshots of a particularly embarrassing message we either sent or received from someone else. And yes, they probably ended up in the group chat, where our friends could scrutinize every single word.
But sometimes, these screenshots don’t just stay within the safety of our WhatsApp groups — no, sometimes they’re so insane that they need to end up in every corner of the internet for all eyes to see. And well, we just so happened to come across some really crazy and really cringey screenshots of messages and comments that should have stayed inside people’s minds, and yet, here they are.

Some of these screenshots are actually painful to see, and if we’re being honest, we’ve all been in situations where we’re the ones painfully looking back at our own cringe texts. This can actually be explained by the Spotlight Effect. This psychological theory suggests that people tend to believe others pay far more attention to them than they actually do.
Allow us to explain. Studies have found that people constantly overestimate how much others notice their appearance or actions. So, once you send a risky text or something gets leaked, in reality, no one is thinking about it as much as you are. Even if you think everyone is judging you, chances are, you’re the one giving the situation the most weight.

We liberals so DO have a flag. It has a picture of Satan eating babies on the flaming ruins of a church. We dance naked around it (in a GAY way) every Sunday while drinking blood and cheap scotch.

But in these cases, we might actually experience what we now call secondhand embarrassment. Curiously, this type of embarrassment, also known as Fremdschämen or vicarious cringe, can almost make your body ache. It’s a bit like watching an episode of Nathan For You while knowing that people are willingly subjecting themselves to some of the cringiest, most awkward moments imaginable.
And there’s actually a reason for it. Research suggests that vicarious cringe can activate some of the same neural pain networks in the brain as physical pain. That is why you might look away, feel a pit in your stomach, or even physically recoil when you watch or read about something incredibly cringy someone else did.

Posted A Video Of My Daughter Who's Got Down Syndrome. Received This
Down's syndrome is the result of an extra copy of a gene, and someone's gene count is very obviously not going to be affected by diet. But there are some people who believe that a high protein diet can help cognitive function, manage hypotonia and control weight problems associated with Down's syndrome. Seems unlikely and describing that as "reversing downs syndrome" is highly inaccurate.

Since the early 2000s, we’ve also seen a phenomenon unfold right before our eyes: oversharing. Historically speaking, with the rise of social platforms like AOL Instant Messenger and early Facebook, people began sharing more and more of their lives online. At first, it was mostly through status updates or simple messages telling people what they were doing, like, “Michael is thinking about dinner.”
Nowadays, with social media's monetization, oversharing is almost expected. It’s algorithm-driven, and people share deeply intimate moments that may be traumatic, bizarre, or even expose others, all for the sake of engagement and eventual monetization. It’s not nearly as organic as some of these screenshots, if we dare say so.

Some of these are actually rather wholesome, though. Maybe it’s just a typo or a misunderstanding, which is curious but understandable, given that studies show text-based communication can strip away around 70–90% of nonverbal cues. Think tone, facial expressions, and physical cues.
Sure, we now have voice memos, the option to video chat, and even the ability to send GIFs or images that can better represent what we’re trying to say. But in reality, unless we actually know the person, the intended meaning can easily get lost in translation, even if you’re both speaking the same language.

This Is Just Really Sad, Man
Despite cringe and embarrassment being easy to explain, one study found that over 40% of social media users admitted to feeling immediate regret after posting a status or comment at least once a month. No wonder tweets and comments make up most of this thread.
After all, it takes less than three seconds for an emotional impulse to turn into a tweet, and, well, that means emotional rants will often be a gold mine for cringe screenshots. But what about you, Pandas? Have you ever had a message or comment exposed that left you completely embarrassed? Let us know!
