I live on the Great California Delta taking all of my Photographs from the Levee in front of my house. I live on Bethel Island with a population of 1500 people if I include all of the wildlife and domestic animals the total rises to double of that. It’s a unique place to live 45 miles North West of San Francisco in a rural area which before 1900 was a wet swampy area. The Island was re-claimed by draining the water then maintaining the dry areas using Levees. They were constructed while the draining was taking place building them during low tide. Originally re-claimed for Farming mostly Alfalfa and other feed crops to be floated on Barges to Sacramento, Stockton and other local cities.

There is one bridge to gain access to the Island, one way on and one way off. Often the roads are blocked by fallen trees, domesticated animals on the road or high water during the rainy season. I have posted a few photos in the gallery showing part of my everyday life on the Delta.

I’m 72 years old, disabled and living in a wonderful spot. I plan on using Panda for short blog posts, exhibiting my Photographs and Videos. I will end this post a bit short leaving it as an introduction.
