Mountain Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece, known worldwide for its mythological importance, as according to the religion of the ancient Greeks, the 12 Olympian gods lived there.

Mount Olympus is recognized as part of the International Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO.

The E4 path is one of the European long-distance paths.Starting at its westernmost point in Portugal it continues through Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece to the end in Cyprus.
