For most people, the term ‘motorhome’ doesn’t exactly scream ‘luxury.’ One German company, however, is begging to differ, and they’ve just rolled out a $1.7m beast-on-wheels that makes your dad’s dingy 1973 GMC look like a Hot Wheels truck.

The Performance S is the latest model in Volkner Mobil’s lauded Performance series of motorhomes, and much like its predecessors, it’s basically a 5-star hotel that you can park wherever you like. The sleek and stunning 40-foot vehicle contains a double bed, a fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious lounge area and a heated bathroom. In case all of that just isn’t enough high society for you, the classy caravan even has a garage with an electrohydraulic lift, and it suits everything from a Ferrari to a Mercedes.

So, if you’re itching to set off on the open road, but you’re not ready to leave behind the comforts of your penthouse and your beloved Lambo, the Performance S just might be the perfect adventure vessel for you – provided you have about 2 million bucks laying around to spare. this is a million dollars over price if not more. A super nice motor home is about 700k. And this one looks horrible compared to a nice, or even decent one

Top gear covered this a few years ago and the one they showed looked much more attractive inside. I would guess the buyer has a lot of input into colours and styles and this buyer has different taste to most of us in the comments.

I hate to be that guy, but to be honest, it doesn't look high end to me. The drivers dashboard looks like a regular industrial vehicle instead of really polished and slick. The cupboards look very generic, and the materials used in the bathroom scream "Decent European hostel", not $1.7 million. I was expecting ingenious ergonomic designs that would maximize the use of the space. This is just a nice motorhome with car park (that steals tons of room).

Yah, let's celebrate a way to go an holiday that is even more wasteful and damaging to the environment than cruise ships! Driving a car around in a bus for kicks is so decadent, it's nauseating.

It's great isn't it!! Get rid of that c**p electric/hybrid BMW though and get and Audi RS6 instead!! Just thinking, could drive that to the ferry, then go over to mainland Europe and drive round there!!

$1.7 million can be taken out with one drunk driver in a flash. If it was a house at least it would be parked on top of my basement for safe keeping and not on the open road with all those idiots. I can just imagine what the insurance would be... wonder if it is less than property tax would be on it?
