I've spent 5 years creating this project called "Tiny Wasteland." The series features miniature figures placed next to everyday objects in order to create the illusion of microscopic worlds. Usually, I use food and trash in my setups and try to reflect on our world's issues, so I magnify these problems in the pictures.
I'm actually a food photographer, so the whole idea came from there. I've made about 200 pictures already from this tiny world; the rest you can find on my Instagram page.

Plastific Ocean
I live on the coast and it really is heartbreaking seeing trash littering the beach. People leaving their broken beach chairs and sand toys because they were too lazy to carry it to a trashcan that is quite literally in your face as you leave the beach. The guys that pier fish and surf fish are no better. I picked up a bucket full of fishing line, rusted hooks & sinkers, crab traps, and miscellaneous fishing tools a few days ago. If you've never had to wrestle a fishing hook out of your flesh considered yourself lucky. People need to treat the world a little better and not sit back and waite on someone else to do it. My cleanups don't amount to much but if everyone did their little part it would make a huge difference.
My last trip to the beach looked very like this image... what is wrong with people?
Oh yes, the face masks, the plastic bottles, the q-tips and other garbage at the oceans, sad but true.
We really need to start cleaning up our oceans and helping the planet.
Zen Mushroom
When I was a child, I absolutely loved The Borrower books... they were just the thing to delight a kid... tiny people using human scale objects in clever ways... going to sea in a tea kettle... flying in a berry basket balloon. These are made of the same magic.
I loved those books too! I would sometimes make something tiny that I thought borrowers could use and leave them around the house...just in case.

My neighbor has been flipping lit cigarettes over my fence... again, what is wrong with people?
People that litter should be criminally charged, fined, and forced to do trash pickup. It's sad people can't be bothered to put trash where it belongs instead of just tossing it down wherever they're at that moment.
Throwing lit cigarettes is a new level of awful... wildfire anyone? I used to keep a section of remote lakefront clean... the only way to get there was to walk. It was constantly polluted by fishermen... lures, hooks, line, not to mention butts, condoms and liquor bottles from either the fishers or the kids. I used to marvel that these "outdoorsmen" would treat their world like that.
Load More Replies...When we went BBQing at a not so far grilling place in the late 1970s/early 1980s we always took Tupperware containers with us and also Tupperware dishes with our food inside, and after we´d eaten our father put the burned down coal into the garbage containers that had been put up there for that reason, but some people did not do that and threw their garbage everywhere, so somewhen back in the middle of the 1980s they closed down that grilling place for the public, I found that very sad. But our mom bought an electric grill for the balcony then, so we could grill our meat or vegetables at home then. I´ve been a veggie since 1985 yet anyway, but mom also grilled sweet corn and other vegetables, extra for me.
Stranger Tins
LOL but yummy, I love baked beans, when I´m short on money like at the moment I usually still have some cans of baked beans and other canned food here, together with some crisp bread I always have a tasty, quick and rather cheap meal.
Jelly Skate
They need more jelly! I am afraid they'll fall on stuff sticking up from the surface...
Carbonara Kai
and have another one with the yolk on top of him or a hand sticking out from the yolk- hhhehhe
Wokbar
I love the detail on this one...I've already made up stories for every character.
Pet Love
Fortunately in Germany PET bottles all cost 25 Cent "Pfand" (deposit) that you get back when you return the bottles at the automats at the stores, nevertheless do some people seem to be too rich to return them and throw them away like garbage... And if they´re damaged you can´t take them to the deposit automats at the stores anymore, if they´re intact I take them with me, return them at Rewe or Aldi and get the 25 Cent deposit for each of them for free.
I really wish we had that where I live. Sure, the City has "recycling" stations where you can take your recyclables, but no one tells you the dirty truth that it costs them too much to ship it to a recycler, so it all ends up at the landfill anyway. It's so disappointing.

Yup a tin whale, unfortunately whale meat´s actually sold under fantasy names even here in Germany, how good that I´ve been veggie since 1985 yet, I´d never ever buy such whale meat, not even for my cats. Only dolphin-friendly tuna now and then for them.

Somewhere In The Salty Forest
The concept of creating intricate miniature environments using everyday items bears a strong resemblance to ideas explored in captivating miniature artistry.
Both projects transform ordinary objects into imaginative scenes that invite viewers to see the world through a new lens.
