17 Fascinating Microscope Photos From Evident’s 2025 Image Of The Year Award
Microscopy can reveal worlds that feel almost impossible to believe are real. The winners and honorable mentions of Evident Scientific’s 6th Annual Image of the Year Award show exactly that, turning life science images into scenes that look like glowing galaxies, alien landscapes, abstract paintings, and tiny creatures from another universe.
The competition celebrates both the artistic and scientific value of microscopy, encouraging people around the world to view scientific images in new ways. Evident, formerly the Scientific Solutions Division of Olympus, has spent more than a century developing optical and imaging technologies that help scientists, physicians, and engineers study what usually remains hidden from view. Through this award, those hidden details are brought into the spotlight, showing how much beauty can be found in the smallest structures of life.

I hate how acceptable this treatment of mice still seems to be. They are intelligent, they feel. Thats more than some humans and we put them through all of the things we fear most, over and over and over again for a small chance it may make someone else feel better. Youre incredibly pretentious if you think were the best of all life especially when we cause so much d***h and destruction (to nearly every creature/organism around us) on a planet where we humans are by far, the minority

Very carefully and with a lot of patience. I have TB's of microscope images that aren't perfect, but a small portion of them turned out perfect. I really should delete the extras, but I'm a hoarder 😂 Although I'm running out of my own space, so I will have to see if the school I work at will buy more storage for my hobby😂🤷🏻♂️😬
