June is LGBTQ Pride Month, and there’s no better way to celebrate it than by sharing these touching same-sex wedding photos.
At the end of the 20th century, gay weddings without legal recognition became more and more popular. The first nation, however, to provide a law for the marriage of same-sex people was the Netherlands (2001).
This marked a turning point in public approval for marriage equality, and now, there’s at least one country for every continent to allow gay and lesbian weddings.
From lavish country weddings to quick visits to the city hall, these photographers have captured some of the most emotional gay marriage moments. Scroll down to enjoy images that prove love knows no boundaries, and vote for your favorite ones!

I don't understand who the F can feel the need to say something horrible about any of these. It doesn't directly affect you in any way. Anyone that has even been in love should understand that their love is exactly the same. I'm straight and married and I cannot imagine having to live with people telling me our love is wrong. Our love is no different than theirs. it is something so beautiful and no one should be made to fight for it in the first place.
This is one of the most beautiful, uplifting photos I've ever seen. I feel blessed to have viewed it.
2) No one needs approval of random strangers to express their love and devotion with marriage.
Yeah you do. Those random strangers are in the government. Can't get "married" unless they say you can.
Load More Replies...This breaks my heart... life is unfair but sometimes things change for the better!
I had a similar expression as I held back tears when I saw my wife walking towards me in her wedding dress. Love knows no bounds!
His happiness is just bursting through. You can see it in his eyes. the love just flows from his whole face.
It's like a Yin Yang! If that is what they intended, that's a beautiful message. Or maybe opposites attract?? IDK, but they both are stunning. Congrats!!

The honor of being the first country to legalize same-sex marriage goes to the Netherlands. In a landmark move, on April 1, 2001, the Netherlands made history by becoming the first nation in the world to grant same-sex couples the right to marry (via Pew Research Center).
This groundbreaking decision didn’t happen overnight. It was the result of years of advocacy, activism, and a shift in societal attitudes toward seeing LGBT weddings as something not only acceptable but also legitimate. The Dutch approach to marriage equality set a precedent for the rest of the world, inspiring a wave of change across various continents.
Since then, numerous countries have followed suit, recognizing the importance of equality and the right for all individuals to celebrate their love through marriage, regardless of gender.
Hate to think how much these guys have gone through to get here. Glad they have though & hope it's all happiness & understanding from now
I believe that's called a Sherwani? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The man pictured is British-Indian. :)
Load More Replies...Thank you for serving first of all! Secondly you both look so good together!
It's really sad how long some people waited just to finally be given the right to marry their partner.
Is it just me, or does anyone else just wanna listen to these two tell stories over a glass of whiskey?
My girlfriend's brother (gay) was invited to a wedding (also gay) where the theme was "Corduroy Jacket." These two would have fit in perfectly!
So sweet! And to think it took till 2017 to let people make their love "official"
Which Country Has More Recently Legalized Same-Sex Marriage?
The global movement for marriage equality continues as more countries are embracing the rights of same-sex couples. The most recent addition to this growing list is Nepal, where same-sex marriage was recognized on November 29, 2023, marking a significant milestone for LGBTQ+ rights in Asia (via Pink News).
According to Time Magazine, Estonia is set to join the ranks of countries legalizing same-sex marriage with the law scheduled to come into effect on January 1, 2024.
I tried doing that thing with my feet. Two minutes later I have to go to the hospital bcs I broke my leg
I've broke my toe in a pool.... I'm just waiting for that to happen to me XD

In How Many Countries Same-Sex Marriage Is Legal?
With the addition of Estonia in 2024, a total of 36 countries legalized same-sex marriage across the world (via EqualDex). Europe leads the way with 20 countries—the Netherlands, Spain, and Belgium among the early adopters—setting a precedent for others to follow. Across the Atlantic, the Americas have seen 11 countries legalize same-sex marriage.
In Asia and Oceania, things are moving forward too. Now, there are four countries where same-sex marriage is a yes! Australia and New Zealand in Oceania have been joined by Taiwan, an Asian leader for LGBTQ+ rights, and most recently by Nepal, marking a significant step for the region.
Africa, more conservative on this front, still has South Africa as the sole nation on the continent to legalize same-sex marriage. South Africa was also the first country in the world to safeguard sexual orientation as a human right in its Constitution—it happened in 1996, following the end of the apartheid.
These are Indian wedding outfits. They are lovely right?
Load More Replies...I can hear them giggling! :D So happy for them!
Load More Replies...They truly belong together and yet people still hate their true sexuality if u really love the same sex and they love you back there is absolutely nothing in the world stopping you!... well maybe Donald Trump but who cares go for it!
Soulmate...check, wedding bands...check, cheesy grins 'cause we're so damn happy...you betcha!!!
These are the ones that hit me most... the ones you KNOW have waited their entire lives to be able to formalize their union like everyone else. How many unaccepting family member and friends did they lose along the way only to finally have this satisfaction? LOVE this picture!
Thank you, Kerri. We married in 2013 in our home church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Atlanta. We had been together 24 years at that time. Celebrating 29 this year! Our Rector Dan Matthews began his celebratory sermon with the words "It's about time!" Yea, verily!
Load More Replies...It was a totally spectacular event! Our whole church just raised the rafters with their happy responses in the ceremony! And Elaine's uncle (clearly older than either of us, and from a family staunchly opposed to gay unions) happily walked us down the aisle! Not saying I am glad for the long wait, but it certainly was an incredibly celebratory breaking of the barrier!
I would love to know the story behind this. Were they both previously married and when they married each other they re-wore the dresses and had fun with it? I gotta know!
Not sure of course, but it might have something to do with the colours of the rainbow being the symbol of LGTBQ? that would make it extra symbolic :)
Load More Replies...This is my friend and her wife. I believe they did this on their first anniversary.
I am thinking instead of going with rice or bubbles, they went with rainbow paint bombs <3
No? same sex marriage is the same as hetero sexual marriage. Look at the raw emotions and immense love in all of these photos and tell me, how is that a sin? We must open our minds and hearts and catch up with the 21 century.

these 2 are finally able to show the world that "I'm his and his mine"
even the flowers pale in to the light of love that flows from these 2
Those dresses!! The flowers!! Their hair!! Everything is so beautiful! Congrats to them.
...and as princess Zara, met princess Mai at the alter of giving and receiving, they both knew their love, would join their two kingdoms forever. Love, fierce and honest as it could be, surrounded them like an ethereal mist, and they sealed their love and future, with a sacred kiss.
the flowers are lovely (and the brides look beautiful ,of course).
I love the one of the left's dress, everything in this picture is perfect
So sweet... with their kids looking on... that little guy looks like he's just waiting for the one on the left to smile or cry.
The combination of pure joy and a slight disbelief on the bride on the right says it all. Congratulations to you both.
Awwwwwwww! How could this much love be wrong? I am tearing up right now.
...and the two handsome grooms rode off on their trusty steads, into the sunset.😊Congrats!
I LOVE these dresses. So different, but they fit together so well.
Who are you to judge ? There's only one person who is right to judge and he is God.

LOVE the fact that one man is religious but not denying his feelings and getting married to the man he loves, no matter what his God says.
And fyi, all signs point to G-D says GO YOU TWO!!!
Load More Replies...I was just wondering if the brides ever wore matching dresses, and here they are! But not their shoes, fabulous
Getting married and sharing a beer in the middle of the ceremony, how cool is that!
This picture is so freaking fantastic. It makes me wonder if they knew these guys and planned it or if it just happened. Is that a bra on the stick? Great photo!
no, it's not a bra :) lol - it's the flags that tell you if the waves are calm, moderate, or rough - yellow is moderate
People think that a girl marrying another girl is gross, stupid, or dumb. That's so not true! My mom and dad got divorced when I was four, but then, when I was eight, my mom married someone that she knew in highschool, who, YES, was a female! People aren't all weird about two guys getting married, but, just because their gender is female, they think it's bad! I hate it, and I am usually ok with everyone's opinion! Who cares if two girls are married?! It's their choice!
This wedding was perfect in every way - much like the love these two beautiful women share!
The groom on the right seems to be giving thanks to heaven! Happiness flows from both of them in waves!
I can practically hear Etta James singing, "At last..... my love has come along..."
I'm in Hawaii, getting married to a wonderful man. My life now starts a wonderful new journey through the years of love with you.
I would be annoyed by the duplicates but I'm so enthralled by the 360 degree views of their dresses and hair. So so pretty.

I can only hope my daughter finds the woman of her dreams, and can marry without predjudice or hate, and find true love and happiness as these couples have done!
This is such an awesome shot. It's a hs friend of mine playing her ukelele at her moms' wedding 🤗😍
Can't imagine what you had to go through to get there. Congratulations ❤️

Load More Replies...These pictures are just so lovely! I come from a Christian family, and while I am one myself, my family is not very tolerant of this kind of thing. But I never understood that. Why would you go to Hell for loving someone? I mean, look at how happy these people are! If only everyone could be accepting of this kind of thing, and then the world would be a much nicer place
Same thing here. My dad is so against it! It's their choice and lifestyle not ours! There is nothing wrong with being happy with and loving the same-sex as you.
