After 13 Years, Jamie Spears Lost Conservatorship Over His Daughter Britney
Being able to control your life is a freedom that we all take for granted. Being able to buy groceries without anyone watching you, being able to spend your money as you wish or spontaneously meeting your friends are the decisions that we wouldn’t think could be taken away from us.
That is why Britney Spears’s fans were so mad that she is not allowed to do all those things for herself. She went through several mental breakdowns and at first, for many, it seemed that maybe a temporary conservatorship would be beneficial to her. But from the moment the conservatorship went into effect, the Free Britney movement started as some thought that something there smelled fishy.
And when it lasted for over a decade, fans started to suspect that the pop star was just being used and the Free Britney movement took off, especially in 2019, when she was not allowed to contact her paralegal team. But finally, with Britney’s and her fans’ effort, on Wednesday, September 29, she was finally freed of her conservator who was her father, Jamie Spears.

Britney Spears was under the conservatorship of her father for 13 years after she had several public meltdowns and people were really concerned for her. The conservatorship was to make sure she was safe, healthy and her financial state was stable.
However, after seeing how hard she was working, performing long hours in concerts, it seemed that the conservatorship wasn’t needed anymore. But no one was talking about removing it or even making it less restrictive.

Slowly but surely, more and more fans started to feel concern for the singer. There were several signs to make them feel that way: in 2019, attorney Andrew Wallet stepped down as the co-conservator, there were rumors that Britney was locked in a mental facility, which a conservator can’t do, there were also rumors that she was being spied on, as well as her whole Instagram appearing very awkward, with people seeing messages of cries for help.

And this week, we finally reached the moment all of Britney’s fans were waiting for: the pop star is no longer controlled by her father. The court’s decision went into effect immediately and surprisingly, earlier in September, Jamie Spears filed to end his daughter’s conservatorship all together.
But Britney’s attorney thought it would be wiser to discuss the end of the conservatorship in another court hearing, so now Britney will have a temporary new conservator that the singer chose herself, John Zabel, a certified public accountant. The hearing for terminating the conservatorship completely will be held on November 12.

So what has changed now that her father is not her conservator anymore? Well, he will no longer control Britney’s finances and estate. And her money will be overseen by a professional accountant. Jamie Spears will have to provide financial records and it is expected that there will be revelations proving he was using his daughter for money. He will also have to face questions about all the allegations of abuse and overstepping his rights as conservator.
The pop star is also one step closer to being completely free, having all of her money and property in her hands, being able to access medical care independently and just buying a bar of chocolate without anyone questioning her actions. She is already enjoying her freedom and spending time with her fiance in a tropical paradise.

I’m very happy that dad is out of the picture. That being said, I’m still a bit concerned for her. Going from having everything in your life controlled to being able to do anything in the world you want, is a major step. I think we are getting ready to see a new side of Britney and it may not be a good one. It may, in fact, be a very sad one. I hope the press is kinder than they were in 2008. But I wish her all the best and I hope she has an amazing support system around her that truly cares about her and her well-being. She deserves it.

Great news but i have one question because everyone seems to celebrate the end of the conservatorship but as i understand she is not free! An accountant is taking over so I'm thinking how much more free will she be? Because it doesn't seem to be over!
Zabel is a forensic accountant and the reason he was made temporary conservator is because ending the conservatorship now would have allowed Jamie Spears to walk away with whatever he stole from his daughter. But now Zobel will have control over all the accounts and paperwork, giving him an opportunity to prove any financial wrongs done to Britney.

None of us is qualified to determine if Britney needs a conservator. Remember, she is bipolar. Many bipolar people do quite well on medication and do not require assistance. Others do, at least at some times. That said, a relative should not be forced upon you. There are two plenty of professionals that the court can appoint in cases where experts deem such assistance necessary.
I just hope she is fine. If this is the best way for her, thats absolutely f*****g amazing!
This is such a first world issue. The amount of ridiculous and distracting attention lavished on this exceptionally wealthy celebrity in conjunction with an obscene framing of her 'predicament' as a 'loss of freedom' is utterly imbalanced and repugnant. Currently, there are 7 million people in the world that fall under the classification of 'slaves' - people with legitimately ZERO freedom. This includes people trafficking, sex trade, drug trade, mining, logging, manufacturing and food processing. These people do not post daily twitter videos where they dance in an immense living room, they do not go to Rodeo Drive when bored to buy jewellery, they don't go to Sunset Boulevard to have a $400 lunch, they don't drive a BMW or Mercedes Benz to the gym to take a private workout class with a personal trainer, they don't have a live-in chef to provide for all their meals and not a single one of them have any twitter/instagram followers. The cult of celebrity worship is utterly horrific.
There is not a single person here saying that she deserves freedom more than the 7 million you mentioned. Nobody is denying that a ton of people have it SO much worse but, this post just isn't about that. If you hate this type of post you are welcome to make one about the utter crud that others are going through.

This is just a first step for her. Her father must be held accountable for his abuse via the conservatorship.
I truly hope she will have peace now and be able to carry the responsibility that comes with freedom and wealth. The Conservatorship should have been only a temporary help and also should have ended a long time ago, despite her maybe spending all her money unwisely, and having to deal with its consequences.
This makes me so happy, now I hope two things happen, A) Jamie Spears gets held accountable for all the years he mis managed and no doubtedly abused her. I hope he gets some serious time for this, and B) I hope she writes him off and doesn't have anything else to do with him. If it were me because I try to be a forgiving person I'd buy him a little 2 or 3 bedroom house, paid for, and that would be it. You're on your own, and if you die penniless, oh well that's Karma.

I have never been a fan-she's totally lacking in talent in my opinion but what has been done to this woman is insane. No one deserves this. She had no autonomy! She couldn't marry her bf! She had no freedom! Yes, she made some terrible choices and I think she's not very bright but she deserves to have autonomy.
I thought that, too. No talent whatsoever. Then I started to see some of her early stuff (Mickey Mouse club and childhood videos). She has an incredible voice. The problem is the record executives sexualized her and forced her to sing in the whispery, whiney, baby voice instead of her natural deeper and louder voice. Her natural singing voice is more akin to P!nk and Christina Aguilera than to the crap she puts out.

That's not really being contested. It's that it went on and on and on, yet she was well enough to work and earn ironically. Some very questionable aspects as well. Britney’s conservators have been able to take a percentage of her income, which would not be considered as being in the best interests of the individual under UK jurisdiction. The rules in the UK for a similar scenario would have had far more safeguards for Britney.

She was literally a business investment to him, an inanimate object to exploit. Her father is a horrendous man who treated her like s**t.
