“We All Needed This”: James Corden’s Post About Mental Health After Prince Harry Row Is Revealed

James Corden shared a post about mental health after it was revealed that he had a secret fight with Prince Harry during a night out.

The former talk show host posted an illustration by Charlie Mackesy on Instagram, writing, “We all need this from Charlie Mackesy every once in a while.”

Hours earlier, the Daily Mail reported on a dispute between James and the Duke of Sussex said to have occurred in 2011, during which tensions escalated to the point that their mutual friend David Beckham had to intervene.

The message on the illustration read: “Once in a while, out of the blue, your heart spins, and it can feel like you’re falling with nothing to hold on to. But you are not the storm, and it will pass.”

The prince and the footballer had met with a group of friends at the exclusive members’ venue the Arts Club in London’s Mayfair for a Christmas night out.

James arrived later that night, having performed in his West End play One Man, Two Guvnors.

When he joined the group, who had already had a few drinks, a then 26-year-old Harry drunkenly made a joke aboutJames’ appearance that allegedly left him “absolutely raging.”

“There was rapture when he arrived. He was a much-loved part of the group, and there were hugs and giggles,” a source told the outlet. 

“The group was pretty large. There were some of Harry’s friends, some of James’ friends, and some of David’s gang, and they all intertwined.

“Then it all kicked off. James was furious. It quickly emerged that Harry had told a joke, and James definitely did not find it funny.”

In the end, it wasDavid Beckham, who was close to both men, who stepped in as peacemaker during the evening.

The Inter Miami club owner reportedly “smoothed things over” by speaking with James and Harry, reassuring the former that the latter meant no harm with the “cruel” joke. 

“He is loved by everyone. Who wouldn’t want to do as they were asked by a legend like him? He did a great job and managed to talk to everyone round. Eventually, James calmed down, and the night carried on,” the source added.

A report from that evening published by The Sun described the prince as “the life and soul of the party” who “chatted to anyone who approached him” and kept his group entertained.

Once the tensions eased, some of the friends left the exclusive Arts Club to continue drinking at the Savoy Hotel.

The alleged fight led to a close friendship between the two. In 2018,the Late Late Show presenter had hosting duties at Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception.

When the Sussexes moved to California two years later,James featured Harry in a segment of his show where they rode a double-decker bus and rapped the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air theme song before James tried to convince Meghan that the couple should purchase the house used in the hit sitcom.

They also participated in a military-style obstacle course to remind Harry of his days in the British Army and talked about his relationship with Meghan.

James’ wife, Julia Carey, andMeghan are close friends, and James once mentioned that his children had playdates with theSussex kids, Archie and Lilibet.

While James and Harry developed a friendship after that evening, David Beckham reportedly became distant from both of them.

According to the outlet,Harry and Meghan accused David and Victoria Beckham of leaking personal stories about their lives. 

Additionally, the former Manchester United player is said to have little contact with James.

This Christmas Day was more stress-free for James than the one in 2011, as 12.5 million viewers tuned in for the much-anticipated finale of his BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey.

The show, created by and starring James and Ruth, centers on two families—one from Essex and the other from Wales—and the love story between two of their members.
