These Public Transport Passengers Have No Respect For Anyone, And Here Are 50 Pics That Prove It
Common sense really isn’t as common as you think. Or as common as it needs to be! The simple fact of the matter is that when we’re in public, we’re not alone and have to respect others. We know, we know, we can practically hear some of you Pandas laughing and saying, “That’s what the word ‘public’ means, doofus.” It’s an obvious thing. But just how obvious is it, really?
When you go on public transport—whether that’s the subway (aka the metro, aka the tube), your local triple-decker bus, or some sort of large communal skateboard—you expect people to Behave A Certain Way. At the end of the day, even though you expect to see a bit of weirdness on public transportation, all you want is some basic courtesy. The guy dressed as a literal clown by the window may be the politest person in town, but that sharply dressed fellow sitting right over yonder can be the rudest, most infuriating individual you’ve ever met.
Bored Panda has collected proof that some passengers have absolutely no clue how to behave on public transport, and should seriously reconsider their life values. Bored Panda wanted to get to grips with public transportation etiquette and culture, so we reached out to Rick McGuire, the mastermind behind the ‘Subway Creatures’ social media project that documents unusual commuters on the New York subway. He was kind enough to answer our questions. You'll find our full interview with him below, so be sure to read on.

WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??? Thankfully I’ve never experienced this level of rudeness in RL. Note to self before flying again: bring multiple packs of gum and a tiny pair of scissors (for hair) and a pack of stick pins (for jabbing feet). People with this level of rudeness need to learn a lesson.

What is wrong with these people, they have zero respect. A few years ago me & my daughter (11months at the time) were flying home after visiting my mother. While we were on approach my daughter messed herself terribly and she started crying because she wanted to be charged. There was literally nothing I could do. I felt so bad, not just for my baby but for the other passengers, they didn't want a very stinky screaming baby. I was so apologetic to everyone, everyone was extremely understanding (which only made me feel even more terrible). The fact that these people literally don't bat an eye at how gross they are is beyond my comprehension.

You will not get through to these pigs. You will end up in a brawl because they will tell you they paid for their seat and cab do ANYTHING they want. So get revenge. If their hair is hanging over in your space, carefully start tying it in knots. Their feet in your area, carefully place your hand on the top, yuck I know, and stand up. When they scream after you put your weight on their appendage, apologize profusely while saying 'oh, I didn't see you there'. You can not talk sense into these rude people. And may I point out most of these people are young. The world ain't getting better.

Time to overhaul planes, trains, and busses. We need some type of pod system where you could connect two or more pods, if needed. Upon leaving, the pods would be hit with a high pressure blast of disinfectant air, any debris gets blown into a bin under the floor. Make people keep their hands, feet, hair, children, trash, coughs, sneezes, and all nastiness to themselves.

Part of the problem is they make the seats too high. For anyone who isn't a man, it lifts the heel off the ground, which bends the knee at more of an angle and pulls on the lower back. The fatigue tends to make people squirm and try to put their feet somewhere when the space is already too cramped. Ironically, lowering the seats doesn't negatively impact people with longer legs the way taller seats negatively impact people with shorter legs. Public seating has long been a challenge to me. I have an old knee injury that won't let me bend my knee that hard for more than a couple of minutes without pain. I can walk or even hike just fine, but it's to the point where I have to bring a wheelchair to a movie theater. I never have to use it at home. Literally all they would have to do is try to accomodate other people in the world besides men. Design is everything.
