“Mammoth Mountain Idiots”: These 56 Dumb Drivers Infuriate The Rest Of Society (New Pics)
Cars weigh thousands of pounds and can travel over a hundred miles per hour, so you'd think people would take driving seriously. But that's not always the case.
Whether they're lazy, entitled, distracted, or simply clueless, some of us make the roads far more frustrating and dangerous than they need to be.
From using phones behind the wheel to treating public parking lots like private property, hopefully these bad examples spark a bit of accountability.

Cyclists Riding On Road, Next To Bike Lane
I hate these cyclists that take up space on the road when they have a solid bike lane next to them.
In many places, people feel that such behaviors are becoming more frequent. According to a survey by the Pew Research Center, the United States is among them.
While the country has seen a reduction in the number of fatalities from vehicle accidents, 49% of Americans say people in their community are driving less safely compared with five years ago. This figure includes 23% who say people in their area are driving a lot less safely.
Only a small share (9%) believes that driving behavior in their area has become safer. Another 35% don't see a change in people’s driving habits.

They recently changed the law in Minnesota to make it illegal to enter an intersection if you couldn’t get through it.
Some people are more likely than others to perceive an uptick in dangerous driving in their local area: 51% of Americans who personally drive at least once a week say people are driving less safely today, compared with 36% of those who drive only a few times a month or less often.
People from suburban areas (51%) also appear to perceive an increase in reckless driving in their communities compared with those in urban and rural areas (46%).

Can't Get My Wheelchair Ramp Down Because Of This Ignorance
The white rear-entry wheelchair van is mine. Hard to tell from this photo, but the driver parked about 8 inches from my bumper. I can't unfold the ramp and roll my son into the car. I waited with him for a bit to see if the driver would come out, so I could explain to them that the hash marks mean don't park here.
Called the non-emergency number, and police came, found the driver, and the officer did the explaining for me. The driver acted clueless and didn't get a ticket. The officer told me next time it happens to call right away, and they'll have the car towed because she sees this all the time.

The last few months of his life, my dad had to use a wheelchair. I did the driving, and we had had proper disabled badges. The amount of problems we had with other drivers was ridiculous. I had to take him to local council offices to get some paperwork done, and the one disabled parking spot was blocked by a BMW with its hazard warning lights on-when I asked what they were doing "oh, I won't be long, I'm just waiting for someone" No badge, just a selfish idiot who wanted to save a 100 meter walk from the main carpark.

Out of six dangerous driving behaviors the survey asked about, driving while distracted by a cellphone tops the list of Americans’ concerns on the road: 78% say this is a major problem in their local community.
Meanwhile, 63% say that speeding, and another 63% say that aggressive driving—such as tailgating, weaving through traffic, or running red lights—are major problems where they live.

There's a long, long highway I have to use a LOT. Idiot mother-forker truck drivers do this *ALL* *THE* *FORKING* *TIME*. It's illegal to do except to pass, but you'll see one trucker pulling out to go around a truck doing 64.93 MPH by doing 64.99 MPH. If you think I'm joking about those speeds, it will often take 10 or 15 minutes for one truck to pass the other. I figure that's about 100 or 150 yards per hour and .25 miles is 440 yards.

Americans who drive at least once a week are more likely than people who drive less often to say that cellphone distraction (80% vs. 66%) and aggressive driving (64% vs. 56%) are major problems in their area.
Smaller – but still sizable – shares of the public see other driving behaviors as problematic where they live. Roughly half of Americans say that people driving under the influence (51%) and driving in a way that puts cyclists or pedestrians at risk (47%) are major problems in their area.

When it comes to cyclist and pedestrian safety, Americans with lower incomes (53%) tend to worry more than those belonging to middle or upper income brackets (44% each).
In the past, studies have shown that lower-income communities have higher rates of pedestrian fatalities, as people without cars in these areas often rely on dark highway shoulders or other unsafe walking routes to get around.

Here in the UK, take a photo with your phone, call the police, and he'll be stopped and arrested very quickly. Loss of job, loss of driving licence, and who knows what else? That offence while driving a bus might well attract a prison sentence.

For example, adults in rural areas (58%) are less likely than those in suburban (63%) or urban (67%) areas to view speeding as a major problem where they live. The survey also asked people how often they witness road rage, which it defined as an expression of uncontrolled anger toward someone else while driving.
Around a quarter of Americans (27%) say they see this behavior extremely or very often. Another 45% say they sometimes see this, and 28% say they rarely or never do.
People who live in urban communities are especially likely to report seeing road rage. A third of city dwellers say they see this type of driving behavior extremely or very often, compared with about a quarter of those in suburbs and in rural areas. Can you spot it in the pictures?

I would be calling the police and giving them the location. Here in Washington state in 2005, Maria's law went into effect, making it a crime if your unsecured load injuries or kills someone. In 2004 Maria Federici left her shift at work in Kirkland, Washington when suddenly a piece of particle board flew off the back of a U-Haul and hit Maria's car resulting in severe brain damage (FYI: I did copy & paste most of that).

My biggest annoyance every day on my commute to and from work is cars randomly braking on the road to quickly squeeze through traffic to take an exit. Don't just brake! It's dangerous, and there have been daily crashes in the last month because of these kinds of people. Just like people who don't pay attention and throw their cars in front of everything, hoping everyone else will pay attention on the highway.
