Gura Portitei is located on a narrow strip of sand between the Black Sea and Lake Goloviţa in the Danube Delta. Practically it divides the Black Sea from Danube Delta and the access is usually by boat from Jurilovca, Tulcea.
Originally a fishing village, Gura Portitei is known today as one of quietest Romanian tourist destination on the coast, an alternative to Vama Veche, that has become too popular in recent years, therefore very crowded. I only say that it’s a piece of heaven on earth and if you’re looking for supreme nature beauty this is the best you can get. Ah, I almost forgot… you can go fishing on the Danube Delta or take a swim on the Black Sea. Take your pick :).
