I Wanted To Be Part Of History, So I Took Pictures Of A Deserted Las Vegas

On a whim my husband and 18 year old daughter decided to be part of history and go see what a shut down, deserted Vegas looked like since this had never happened in our lifetime and probably wouldn’t again. As I do photography on the side (my real job is “essential” so I work full time even now) I figured this would be a once in a life time opportunity to get these pics for myself.

Before everyone gets their paranoid panties in a bunch, rest assured, we drove in our own vehicle, stopped only for gas (once – my car gets great gas mileage) washed our hands thoroughly, stayed for about an hour total between driving and pics and came straight home. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did taking them.

Welcome to Fabulous (but shut down) Las Vegas Nevada

A side view of the lit up but empty Delano and an empty street.

One of my favorite places in Vegas off Fremont St. The Mob museum. Wanna visit? Fuggedaboutit… it’s a ghost town.

Empty Streets everywhere, you could hear a pin drop

Tugging at my heartstrings one message at a time.

Vegas boarded up! Are they keeping people out? Or did someone already try to break in?

No bands, no music, no bright screen. Lights are lit, but the place is dark in comparison. Not a soul around.

A color comparison

Chains lock the doors tight…..

An eerie street view. No traffic foot or otherwise.

Sorry we’re closed.

Not that a walking sign is needed

Just eerie

Tear Jerker number 2

These were all over, lights in the rooms turned on to convey messages. #VegasStrong and hearts.

usually packed with people, now just haunted footsteps remain

Just a memory of a show now as the fountains are off. No roar of the water.

USA….. :(

This looks absolutely MAGICAL! How amazing would it be to walk through streets THAT wide, a cityscape THAT empty? You've captured something totally unique: Vegas, Autist-Friendly Edition. I LOVE THIS.

Yes, sad, also, do you mind if I added color to them? I may have already, but if you don't want, I can scrap them.

well, I rather not as I added some with color, but the black and white show the dramatics of the situation. It was done on purpose. BUT I appreciate you asking and thank you for looking at them. :)
