I Turned Reclaimed Wood Pieces Into Functional Home Or Office Décor (24 Pics)
Are you also for upcycling old wood pieces that can be given new life?
These reclaimed wood pieces were given to me by my dad to work on, and see what I can do with them. I accepted the challenge although this was something new to me. I have never worked with wood before and so I turned to Instagram to get inspiration on DIYs.
I already had designs in mind but I also had to learn a few carpentry, woodworking and electricity skills. Besides getting to know the wood pieces, I learned how to use power tools and other materials such as wood paints and oils. Hardware, tool and online stores became my go-to shops for anything needed in the process.
I am happy with how the pieces turned out. What do you think?

The original reclaimed mahogany wood piece I named “Aria”, as it looked like it was singing solo.
Aria transformed: painted with gold and black acrylic, drilled holes and coated with mineral oil. It can serve as a vase, paperweight, brush or pen holder.

B2B collective transformed: one side was painted with gold acrylic. It imitates the horizon at dusk. It can serve as art coasters/decoratives for your tables or walls.

The original reclaimed mahogany wood piece I named “Grizz”, as it looked like a grizzly bear’s face.
Grizz transformed: torched, painted with gold and black acrylic. It can serve as a vase, paperweight, centerpiece, etc.
Original reclaimed mahogany wood pieces I named “The Sitter”. These are chunky pieces that I originally intended as plain stands.
The Sitter transformed: I coated them with oil, decorated them with marbles and added legs. It can serve as stools, book or cake stands, centerpieces, etc.
The original reclaimed mahogany wood piece I named “The Wood Vessel”, inspired by a ship’s hull.
The Wood Vessel transformed: left back part of the wood as is and coated with mineral oil, half part of the front painted in gold + black acrylic and drilled holes in the middle. It can function as a loop hanger/wall decor, but you can get creative and use it for some other function as you wish.
The original reclaimed mahogany wood piece I named “Atlas”. Immediately pictured it holding a globe bulb.
Aria transformed: one of its tri-color light.
Painted front body with gold and glitter blue that mimics the painting style of Van Gogh, and electrified it by adding a tri-color globe bulb and plug. This can function as a desk or bedside lamp.
The original reclaimed mahogany wood piece I named “Lit”, plainly due to lighting added to it.
Lit transformed: only 5 were able to withstand the clean-up and transformation into these beautiful wood lamps. It can function as a desk or bedside lamps.
Lit in gray with a daylight bulb. The lamp shade is made out of wire mesh and covered with a white non-slip mat. Yes, you can repurpose some items originally intended for another use.
Lit in pink with a warm light bulb.
The original reclaimed mahogany wood piece I named “Leafies”. These are sliced further into thin pieces to form the group.
Leaves transformed: it serves as accents to lighting installed to attach to it. It can function as desk or wall lights.
Leafies on one side that was painted with brown and white acrylic then sanded for a rough look.
Leafies’ other side is painted with burnt acrylic color.
Original reclaimed Alnus or black elder wood piece I named “The Mushroom”. It looked like it has a nose. I stripped off its old skin and oiled its body before adding lighting.
The Mushroom transformed: added a tri-color 15W (very bright) flat bulb. It can function as a desk lamp.
The Mushroom is in subtle warm light.
