I Transformed A Fortress From The World War I Into A Magical Nature’s Cathedral
I really didn’t know what to expect when I climbed up to that hill. I was searching for a location to shoot my vision of Nature’s bride and aiming at finding something cathedral-like from the nature. When this scenery opened up behind the trees, my jaw just dropped. The beauty of the hidden forest oasis made me speechless! I felt I had suddenly traveled to another world. And indeed, I knew this place had a history from World War I when it used to be a fortress. The scenery offered an unfinished cave carved into a rock and filled with water. Next to the cave there was a narrow aisle filled with thick pieces of moss all over. This was the perfect scenery to shoot my series “Taken by Nature”! Only a few color twists in Photoshop were needed to complete my vision, but nothing more after finding a place like this.
Together with model Minna Kosonen we created a wedding dress out of underwear. The veil and the crown were made out of weeds from my garden. Then we dumped our feet into the mud and started to shoot some beautiful shots in this magical place that I couldn’t ever believe to find in a Finnish forest.
