A couple of years ago I worked for a few months in the stacks of a science library, retrieving journals and books for patrons. I loved exploring the aisles. The patterns and textures of the journals, some dating back to the 1800s, fascinated me.
The collections that caught my eye were the very old – with worn leather covers and gilded text; the vividly colored; those with quirky subjects; wrinkled cover papers; or hand-written titles.
I just rediscovered the photos I took. Here are some of my favorites.
