I make lapel flower pins in the traditional Japanese tsumami kanzashi style. Originally, apprentice geisha used this ancient technique to make hair accessories from their old kimonos. Today, we use kanzashi flowers for all sorts of applications; necklaces, bracelets, appliqués on garments, brooches, appliqués on beautiful fabric boxes, to name a few. I make kanzashi lapel pins for men and women, and I use new and vintage silk, cotton and linen. These pins complement suits, blazers, hats, cardigans, vests, even suspenders. They are becoming more and more dapper for elegant dressers with distinctive taste.
