I Hiked Rila Mountain In May And I Can’t Believe How Amazing It Was

I backpacked Bulgaria in may with my boyfriend. We had pretty low expectations but we looked forward to going hiking around Rila mountain. We had amazing weather, the hike felt like an adventure you can read about in a fantasy book. We hiked for 7 hours in snow, mud and small chanels and the view was worth it!

Rila is the highest mountain range of Bulgaria and the Balkans

In may most of the lakes are frozen which creates this mysterious mood

The name of these beautiful flower is “Crocus vernus” .

Native to the Alps, the Pyrenees, and the Balkans

In may the snow starts melting.

The views are incredible.

You can see that near the mountain the lake is frozen and moving forward you can see the fresh water.
